John Lewis Cook, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 3rd, 2025, at the age of 88, in his hometown of Talladega, AL.
John was born on Saturday, August 8th, 1936, in Alpine, AL, to his loving parents, Cook Ernest and Ollie Cook. From a young age, he demonstrated a strong work ethic and kind spirit. He pursued his education at Pine Hill School in Talladega County, which laid the foundation for a life filled with hard work and dedication.
Throughout his career, John wore many hats, literally and figuratively, as a roofer, truck driver, and farmer. His commitment to his work was only rivaled by his devotion to family and community. John served as a deacon at Lilly Hill Baptist, where his presence was a source of strength and faith for many.
John had a passion for the simple joys in life. He found solace in fishing, loved watching westerns, and enjoyed riding the country sides, where he felt most at peace. These interests enriched his life and provided many cherished moments with those he loved.
John is survived by his devoted daughters, Eva Mae Williams and Eva Lee Servant , of Talladega, AL; his sister, Bernice Garrett, also of Talladega, AL; and his brother, Ollice Cook, of Talladega, AL. John leaves behind a legacy through his ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and a host of great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends whose lives he touched deeply.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved spouse of over fifty years, Willie Bell Cook; and his son, Frank James Cook; and siblings, George Ernest Cook, Frank Cook, William L. Cook, Bobby Cook, and Albert Cook, Martha Jean Cook-Ragland, Ola Mae Perkins, and Annie Swain.
John's memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His enduring spirit and compassionate nature will be mourned, yet celebrated, by the countless lives he impacted throughout his lifetime.
May John Lewis Cook rest in peace, forever riding the country sides of heaven.
