Johnny Alfred Scales was born on January 11, 1945, to the union of Johnny A. Scales and Lucille Williams Scales in Talladega. He was raised by his grandfather, Joseph Scales.
Once learning of the love and goodness of Jehovah, Johnny united with the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. In his early years, Johnny began his education at Eastside School and was a member of the 1962 graduating class of Westside High School. Bro. Scales began his professional career at Crown Textile and continued at Alabama Power until retirement. He was also an independent salesman. During his free time, he enjoyed traveling and taking care of his flowers. On October 15, 2017, he and the former Sylvia Threatt were united in holy matrimony.
Bro. Scales leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Sylvia Scales of Talladega, Alabama; one daughter, Adrienne Scales of Kennesaw, Georgia; four bonus children, Taveus (Toya) Threatt of Loganville, Georgia, Kennon Threatt of Talladega, Alabama, JarVonda Threatt of Villa Rica, Georgia and Shadrick Threatt of Loganville, Georgia; seven sisters, Deborah Williams of Lakeland, Florida, Thresa Williams of Talladega, Alabama, Gilla (James) Brock of Jacksonville, Florida, Frances Slater (Raymond) Gray of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Loretta Turner and Jackie (Orsmond) Robinson of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Dorothy Jean Slater of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; one brother, Willie Cleveland Williams of Talladega, Alabama; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two special nieces, Tonett Wells and Alicia Ford; one special cousin, Sharon Gooden; and a host of other family members and friends.
On the afternoon of Tuesday, November 26, 2024, Johnny went to sleep in death at his residence. He was preceded in passing by his parents, Johnny A. Scales and Lucille Scales; his grandfather, Joseph Scales; his wife, Helen Scales; his son, Dexter Scales; and two siblings, Eugene Scales and Theda C. Scales.

To the loved ones of Johnny Scales:
Although we did not have the privilege of knowing Brother Scales in this system, we sincerely hope to meet him under far better conditions to exist in paradise. (Rev. 21:4) We pray that Jehovah's promises, which we know cannot fail, will support and strengthen each of you until you are reunited with him in the not-too-distant future. (Job 14:14,15; John 5:28,29 (a)).
With all of our love and heartfelt prayers,
