Obituary For Johnny William McKenzie
Born on Wednesday, February 8th, 1961, in Talladega, Alabama, Johnny was the beloved son of L. C. and Mae Wilma McKenzie.
He was a devoted member of Lily Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where his passion for singing and music found a perfect home. He was also a proud alumnus of Talladega High School. Johnny found his calling as a laborer with McCartney Construction, where he worked diligently. Johnny was known for his love of riding his bicycle from city to city, and his athleticism was an inspiration to those around him.
He is survived by his loving sisters, Margie (Robert) Briskey of Munford, Alabama and Barbara Curry of Talladega, Alabama. Johnny's life was also blessed with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and countless friends who will dearly miss his presence.
Johnny William McKenzie left this world on Friday, August 21st, 2026 at the age of 65. Johnny was preceded in death by his devoted parents, L.C. McKenzie and Mae Wilma McKenzie, as well as his siblings Joyce Davis, Mattie Pope, Elizabeth McKenzie, William McKenzie, and Henry McKenzie, along with his cherished niece, Onieka McKenzie.
Johnny may have pedaled his last ride, but the joyful echoes of his music and the warmth of his friendship will forever carry in our hearts. Rest in peace, Johnny, you will always be beloved and remembered.

I had the privilege of caring for him from his very first day at our facility, and over that time, he became so much more than just a resident to me. I was honored to be his nurse and to be one of the people he could trust on his hardest days, when he was overwhelmed or his best days singing his heart out. I'll never forget the nights he would wake up and couldn't sleep and a snack and conversation would put him at ease. Those moments meant more to me than I can put into words. I will miss his presence, his personality, and all the little things that made him who he was. Caring for him was a privilege, and I will always be grateful that I got to know him and be part of his life. To his family, please know that he was loved, cared for, and will always be remembered. He touched many hearts in a way that will never be forgotten. Rest peacefully, sweet friend. You will be deeply missed. ❤️🕊️

Mr. McKenzie you will be extremely missed at CVNH. You were a great person to be around and I am so glad that I shared the opportunity with you. You LOVED music and LOVED to sing. I will missed your singing, your smile, your jokes, laughter and so much more.

"...l vividly remember Johnny and the McKenzie family as we lived on Washington Avenue (at the time) there in Talladega.
Johnny was such fun to be around, and he always seemed to have some activity going on.Those of us that knew him affectionately called him "Bonnie".
One Christmas, as l recall, he received a toy tractor( peddler car), and he was so excited and happy as he peddled his new toy about.
Now , Tommy Robinson and Bonnie (at the time) were best friends, and Tommy began to push the toy tractor as Bonnie rode around. We all were laughing and having such a great time, that is , until Tommy accidentally pushed Bonnie and the tractor in a ditch. Unfortunately, the steering column and the front wheel broke, which needless to say, left Bonnie devastated. And poor Tommy; he tried to apologize, but to no avail. Eventually, they began to play together again, and fortunately this 'funny' little Holiday story had a happy ending.
That was just one of the many adventures we shared, and l'd like to thank you all for the memories. On occasion ,l wish we all could go back to those carefree days - if only for just a while.
