Obituary For Kynetra Elizabeth Cook Lawson
The life story of Miss Kynetra Elizabeth Cook began on Friday, August 5, 1988. She was the second daughter born to Mr. Gerald and the late Mrs. Delois Cook.
Kynetra was affectionately known as Liz and was raised in her loving home with her eldest
sister, Deloi, and twin younger brothers, Gerald and Carl. Kynetra recognized her love for the Lord as a child and grew up as an active member of Howard Chapel CME Church in
Talladega, AL. She was a devoted member of the Howard Chapel Choir for over 20 years.
Her early education was developed in the Talladega City School System where she graduated from Talladega High in 2006. To further her education, she attended Talladega College where she was a social work major. Liz was also very active and obtained a position for the pre- alumni council and the Student Activities Council. Talladega College is where she made her mark. Liz created a 20-year bond with a group of individuals and they would be named ” Da Crew” because of their visible friendship, personal get up and go, and the tenacity they carried. She shared her bubbly personality, witty humor and her infectious laugh.
After graduating in 2011, she entered into the workforce and flourished in serving others. Liz met her adoring husband Andre Lawson and shortly became a mother of two beautiful children, Victor Lawson (7) and Adreanna Lawson (4). Her love for children grew beyond her home and she began working with children at Talladega Head Start. Prior to her illness, she was pursuing a Master of Education in early childhood education from National University.
On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, her heavenly angels saw her steps had grown short and said it is time for her to be at rest and reunite with her mother, Delois Cook and her sister, Deloi.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories: her husband, Andre Lawson; her father, Gerald Cook (Margaret); brothers, Carl Cook, Gerald Cook (Regina) and Tavares Cook (Crystal); step brother, Elliot Dailey (Angela); step sister, Ophelia Daughtry; nieces, Jaylin and Alex-Kalen Cook: a host of aunts, uncles, cousins; bonus brothers: Dr. Desmond Parker, Ricardo Moss and Joshua Clark; bonus sisters: Dr. Sabrina Davis, Dion Duff, Sherry Curry, Jazzmine Davis, Ashley Hoytt, Ashley Council, Jessica McGowan, Kimberly Sims, and Karen Vez.
