Laura Richardson Welch was born on Monday, May 15th, 1944 in Talladega, Alabama.
A devoted member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, Laura's faith and dedication were evident through her involvement. She served with passion as President of the Junior Choir and the Culinary Committee and was an active member of the Usher Board. Her commitment extended beyond her church, as she was a member of Ethel Chapter 75 of the Order of Eastern Star.
After graduating from R. R. Moton High School and the School of Cosmetology, Laura led a fulfilling career. She worked at the Bemis Bag Company and the Five Star Cafeteria at Georgia Pacific. Later, she poured her nurturing spirit into caregiving.
Laura's passion for cooking, gardening, and caring for her children and grandchildren brought immense joy to her life. Her home was a gathering place filled with love, laughter, and the aroma of her delicious meals—a testament to her nurturing spirit and gracious heart.

Laura leaves behind a cherished legacy of twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren who will forever hold her memory dear.
Laura is also survived by her sister, Dorothy (David) Joshua of Detroit, MI and brother, Homer (Ola) Richardson of Decatur, GA. In addition, she leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and countless friends whose lives she touched with her warmth and kindness.
