Obituary For Lawrence McClendon
Lawrence McClendon was born December 27, 1954 to the late Louie and Beatrice (née Jones) McClendon in Talladega, AL. Lawrence joined Africa Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. He graduated from Winterboro High School and then moved to Berkley, California to pursue his music career.
Lawrence loved singing, playing the guitar and spending time with family and friends.
Lawrence leaves to cherish his memories: his sisters, Christine Allen, Mary Ann (Reuben) Gray and Winnie Cameron; his brothers, James (Gloria) McClendon and Larry (Myra) McClendon; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Lawrence transitioned to his heavenly home on Friday, October 24, 2025. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mylika McClendon; his parents, Louie and Beatrice McClendon; his sisters, Elnora Bell, Willie Gresham, Beaulah Posey and Hazel Swain; his brothers, Marvin McClendon, Jimmy McClendon and L.C. McClendon; and several nieces and nephews.
He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know and love him. May he rest in peace.
