Obituary For Paul Clay

Home going celebration for Mr. Paul Clay, 62, will be 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Terry’s Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Eric D. Richardson will be the eulogist. Visitation will take place Sunday, November 17, 2019 from 12-2 p.m. at Phillip White's Julia White Funeral Home, 322 North Street, Uniontown, Alabama. Interment will take place Sunday, November 17, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at the Clay Family Cemetery in Demopolis, Alabama.

Mr. Paul Clay began life’s journey as one of three babies born on Saturday, June 22, 1957 to the union of Eugene Clay, Sr. and Mattie Lee Finch Clay in Demopolis, Alabama.

Mr. Clay accepted Christ as his Lord and personal Savior at young age and united with New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Demopolis, Alabama and in 2015 he rededicated his life and united with New Maryland Missionary Baptist Church in Alpine, Alabama. Paul sang with the gospel group The Southern Travelers for many years. He was a graduate of Talladega High School. Paul was employed at Talladega Foundry and was a well-known mechanic at Phillips 66 and Roland Allen Texaco.

On the evening of Saturday, November 9, 2019, Mr. Clay answered the Master’s call at his residence. He was preceded in passing by his son, Ernest C. Clay; his parents, Eugene Clay, Sr. and Mattie Lee Clay; a brother, Eugene J. Clay; and a sister, Annie Mae Greene.

Mr. Clay leaves to continue his legacy: four children, Shawanda C. (William, Jr.) White of Oxford, Alabama, Fredrick E. Clay and Lawrence Barclay of Talladega, Alabama and Barbara Barclay of Saks, Alabama; daughter-in-law, Keyshe Clay of Talladega, Alabama; seven grandchildren, Rekenna Clay (Justin) Simane, Zakeea White, Daisha White, Dayshon White, Monifah Holmes, Jeremy Clay and Javontae Sanders; three great grandchildren, Justin Simane, Jr., Everly N. Simane and Da’Kayla Smoot; five brothers, Robert Clay of Muskegon, Michigan, Ernest Clay of Talladega, Alabama, Eugene Clay and Jake (Minnie Pearl) Clay of Muskegon, Michigan and Aaron Clay of Lansing, Michigan; five sisters, Mattie Lee Clay of Demopolis, Alabama, Paulette Lay of Jersey City, New Jersey, Pauline Clay (Reggie) Alexander of Woodstock, Georgia, Linda Clay (Bob) Dodd of Lansing, Michigan and Kim Clay (Willie) Lee of Norcross, Georgia; a long-time companion, Annie Pearl Clay of Talladega, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
