Obituary For Richard Junior Whitson

Home going celebration for Mr. Richard Junior Whitson, 60, will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Mt. Zebulon AFM Church of God. Interment will be in Lane Chapel Church Cemetery. Mr. Whitson will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Richard Junior Whitson began life’s journey on Monday, October 5, 1959 to union of Greene L. Whitson and Pauline Lynch Whitson in Talladega, Alabama.

Mr. Whitson accepted Christ as his Lord and personal Savior and united with Mt. Zebulon AFM Church of God. He received his education in Talladega County Schools and was a 1978 graduate of Munford High School. During his professional career, Richard was employed with Crown Textiles, Georgia Pacific and Road and Rail Services, Inc. until his health began to fail.

On the evening of Saturday, November 9, 2019, Mr. Whitson answered the Master’s call while he was a patient at Princeton Baptist Medical Center. He was preceded in passing by his parents, Greene L. and Pauline Whitson; and a brother, Ross Whitson.

Mr. Whitson leaves to continue his legacy: two brothers, Frank (Myrtis) Whitson of Anniston, Alabama and Tommie (Georgia) Whitson of Talladega, Alabama; two sisters, Helen (Rollen) Jackson and Nancy Taylor of Talladega, Alabama; a favorite nephew, Earres Jackson who tirelessly sought to comfort him during his final days; a special friend, Chaney Gooden; Godchildren, Curtis Gooden, Nicole (Anthony) Harrison, Jessica Merritt and Latoya Merritt; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
