Born on Easter Sunday, April 9, 1950, Susie was the cherished daughter of the late Robert Marizette and Clara Bell Marizette.
Susie was a member of Greater Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church. She was a matron in every sense of the word; a faithful servant of God who lived her life by the teachings of Christ Jesus. She found solace and strength in reading the Bible daily and was known for her thankful spirit and continual prayers, offering gratitude for all things, both good and bad.
A testament to her dedication to education, Susie graduated from Camden Academy in Wilcox County, Alabama. She went on to contribute many years of service to Georgia-Pacific as a diligent and respected machine operator.
Susie's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her daughters, Ms. Maple Phillips of Talladega, AL, and Mrs. Betty (Phillips) Dorman of Anniston, AL; her sons, Mr. Arthur (Sherie) Phillips of Valrico, FL, Mr. Donald (Gloria) Phillips of Talladega, AL, Dr. Ira (Pamela) Phillips, Jr. of Millbrook, AL, and Mr. O'Brian Phillips of Talladega, AL. She was a proud and loving grandmother to twenty grandchildren and a great-grandmother to twenty great-grandchildren, one of whom blessed her with the title of great-great-grandmother.
In addition to her children and grandchildren, Susie leaves behind her devoted sister, Mrs. Elizabeth McGowan of Talladega, AL.
Susie Marie Phillips, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2026, just days before celebrating her 76th birthday.
She was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Clara Bell Marizette; her son, Debron Phillips; and her siblings, Virginia Murdock, Hattie Lee, Robert Marizette, Jr., and Albert Marizette.
While her earthly presence will be greatly missed, her spirit and love continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Known for her deep faith, tireless work ethic, and devotion to her family, Susie will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. In remembrance of Susie, the family encourages acts of kindness and faith to honor her memory, in the way Susie lived her own life—faithfully serving God and loving her family unconditionally.
