Obituary For William Ernest "Jelly" Dorman

A celebration of life for Mr. William Ernest "Jelly" Dorman will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend Isaac Chappell is the pastor. Bishop Billy Ray Morgan will be the eulogist. Interment will be in the Lebanon Cemetery. Mr. Dorman will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2019.

Mr. William Ernest Dorman was born on Thursday, November 24, 1960 to Jack Dorman and Maggie Davis Dorman in Talladega County, Alabama.

Mr. Dorman was a longtime member of Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church. He was a 1979 graduate of Munford High School. After completing his education, William enlisted in the United States Army on September 12, 1979 and served honorably until August 31, 1983 earning awards such as the Army Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, etc. William was employed by Crown Textile, ATAP and presently as a forklift operator with Nemak. He was affectionately known as “Jelly” by his loved ones and friends. On July 28, 2011, William and the former Betty J. Phillips were united in holy matrimony.

On the evening of Friday, September 20, 2019, Mr. Dorman answered the call of his Lord and Savior. He was preceded in passing by his, daughter, Marquetta Mitchell; three sons, William D. Dorman, Cecil Swain and Andrew Swain; and two brothers, Jack Dorman, Jr. and Robert Holyfield.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Betty J. Dorman of Talladega, Alabama; parents, Jack and Maggie Dorman of Munford, Alabama; six daughters, Jacquile Phillips of Anniston, Alabama, Tchalandra (Rodrickus) Jackson of Millbrook, Alabama, Sheshonee Phillips of Talladega, Alabama, Nacarlyn Woodgett of Anniston, Alabama, Lekia Swain of Sylacauga, Alabama and Jawanda Swain of Pinson, Alabama; three sons, Corda Phillips of Anniston, Alabama, Jacarlin Woodgett of South Carolina and Ronnie Swain of Talladega, Alabama; twenty-five grandchildren; three sisters, Pamela Dorman-Busby and Jacqueline Dorman Gilbert of Munford, Alabama and Minister Tammy H. Davis of Jacksonville, Alabama; four brothers, Randolph (Elaine) Davis of Anniston, Alabama, Anthony (Doris) Dorman of Kentucky, Winfred (JoAnn) Dorman of Birmingham, Alabama and Bobby Joe (Gernice) Hall of Oxford, Alabama; mother-in-law, Susie Phillips of Talladega, Alabama; two sisters-in-law, Maple Phillips of Talladega, Alabama and Bridgett Dorman of Anniston, Alabama; five brothers-in-law, Arthur (Sherie) Phillips of Tampa, Florida, Donald (Gloria) Phillips of Talladega, Alabama, Ira (Pamela) Phillips of Millbrook, Alabama, Debron (Tameika) Phillips of Talladega, Alabama and O’Brian Phillips of Tampa, Florida; two special friends, Donald “Duck” Silimon and Milton Smoot; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope you find comfort in this scripture at Revelation 21:3,4. “With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

Fly Jelly it was last week we talked never thought it would be our last communication fly on high my friend.
