Obituary For Willie Garrett

On October 1, 1977, in Talladega County, Alabama, A. J. and Juanita (née Powell) Garrett welcomed a son they named Willie to their family.

Willie was educated in Talladega County completing his formal education at Talladega County Training School. After completing school, Willie trained to become a welder and was employed with Douglas Manufacturing. He enjoyed socializing, cruising around often taking long car rides and fishing. Willie also was a fan of the Auburn Tigers. On February 9, 1999, Willie took the hand of the former Tasha Brown in holy matrimony and to this union they were blessed with one daughter, Sandaaja.

Mr. Garrett leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife of 25 years, Tasha Garrett of Alpine, Alabama; one daughter, Sandaaja Garrett of Talladega, Alabama; his mother, Juanita P. Garrett of Alpine, Alabama; two siblings, Henry Joe (Tina) Powell and Stacey Garrett of Talladega, Alabama; one grandchild, Nashton Beck; father-in-law, Willie Joe (Shavonne) Brown Sr.; two brothers-in-law, Willie Brown, Jr. and Alphonso Brown; four sisters-in-law, Sondra Brown, Monchella Brown, Candace Brown and Veronica Brown; a special niece, Aaliyah Simmons; and a host aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

On the morning of Friday, October 11, 2024, Mr. Garrett took his rest from this earthly life. He was preceded in passing by his father, A. J. Garrett.
