Dr. Walter Franklin Williams Obituary
Walter Franklin “Frank” Williams, Sr, age 79, of Arlington, TN departed this life on
May 23, 2026 in Nashville, TN. He was born on January 31, 1947 in Brownsville,
TN to the late Milton Walter Williams and Wanda Griggs Williams of Halls,
Tennessee.
He is survived by Mary Constance "Connie" (Elmore) Williams, his devoted wife of
57 years, his son Walter Franklin Williams, Jr. (Nicole Williams), and two
grandchildren, Sarah and Katherine Williams, along with his brothers Steve and
Lee Williams. He was preceded in death by his brother John Williams of
Bloomington, Wisconsin. He is also survived by loving aunts, uncles, cousins,
nieces, and nephews.
Frank served in the US Navy, and the US Coast Guard. He retired in 2007 as a US
Coast Guard Commander after 22 years of service.
Education was very important in his life. He earned three degrees (BS, MS, MAT)
from Memphis State University. He taught physics and chemistry at Central High
School. Lastly, he worked at the University of Memphis as a Haz Mat Coordinator
and retired after 20 years of service to the state of Tennessee.
He was a life-long learner, earning his MA in 2006, and then his Ph. D. in History
from the University of Memphis in 2016 at the age of 69. He was an avid reader
and enjoyed spending time outside and with his family.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent
to Curve Baptist Church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital
