Obituary For Althea Carter Williams

Althea Carter Williams, 90 of 108 Fox Glenn Court in Willow Spring, NC. On December 23, 2016, Mrs. Althea Carter Platt Williams peacefully fell asleep in death at the home of her devoted daughter in Willow Spring, NC. She was born on February 4, 1926 to the late John “Peter” Carter and Mary Pinckney Carter.

Althea was educated in the public schools of Charleston County. In 1947, she married Robert Lenwood Platt. Together they raised eight children, during which time she came to know and love the true God Jehovah. She unreservedly dedicated her life to him on January 21, 1961.

Althea was zealous in her worship for Jehovah. She talked about her relationship with her precious heavenly father to all she encountered, especially her family. She loved sharing with others the wonderful promises and benefits of Jehovah’s Kingdom.

In 1981, she suffered the loss of the husband of her youth, Robert, in death. In time, she met and married Willis Williams of Charleston, SC, and they were married for ten years until his passing in 1997.

Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by three brothers: Nathaniel Carter, John Carter, and Roy Carter; two sisters: Vermell Lucille Haynes and Fredricka Carter Collier; two children: Mary L. Platt Pierce and Robert (Bobby) Lenwood Platt, Jr., and a dear grandson, Rodrick Lee Platt.

She leaves to cherish her memory six remaining children: Arthur J. Platt, Marvin B. Platt, Rodney C. Platt, Sr., David A. Platt, Carmen R. (Lester) Holmes, and Collette M. (Maurice) Oliver, one brother Robert Eugene (Maxine) Carter, eighteen grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and acquaintances.

A memorial service for Mrs. Althea Carter Platt Williams will be held on December 31, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at the Willow Spring Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. An additional memorial service will be held January 7, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the East Mount Pleasant Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
