Christine Adams Utley was born April 19, 1943, and entered eternal rest on Tuesday, April 8, 2026, at the age 82, at her home in Clinton, North Carolina.
She was born in Wake County to the late Jenny Belle and Lynn Adams and was on of twelve children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joe Earvin Utley, brothers Chester Lee Adams, Jack Adams, Zebdee Adams, Len Adams, Williams Adams, Ben Adams, and Andrew Adams; her sister, Essie Potter, Marie Yates, and Elnora Adams; her daughter Tonya Hamlett.
Christine attended Wake County Public Schools. She was employed at Lufkin Rule (Cooper Tools) for many years and later worked as a custodian at A.B. Combs School, as well as at Raleigh Linen.
At an early age, she joined the United Church of Christ of Holly Springs, North Carolina, where she remained a faithful and active member until her health declined. She also attended Douglas Chapel Church alongside her husband, Joe Utley.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory two daughters, Gail Utley and Vickie Utley Ray, both of Clinton, NC; one son, Derek Utley of Clinton, NC; three grandsons, Derice Utley, Jospeh Ray, and Samar Utley; two granddaughters, Tiara Taylor of Clayton and Tawanda Scott of Garner; and eighteen great-grandchildren, all dearly loved. She is survived by one brother, James Adams (Patricia); one brother-in-law, Willie Underwood (Mary); three sisters-in-law, Eloise Adams, Paticia Utley, and Gladys Adams; a special niece, Brenda Utley Davis, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Public viewing: 1:00 - 6:00 pm on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Trice Funeral Home Chapel, 127 N. West Street in Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.
Funeral will be held 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Douglas Chapel A. M. E. Zion Church, 201 Douglas Street in Holly Springs, NC 27540.
