Obituary For Dr. Paron T. Bailey

“A Faithful Servant, A Radiant Spirit, A Life Well Lived”

A Celebration of Life

Dr. Paron T. Bailey peacefully transitioned from labor to reward at her residence in High Point, North Carolina.

She was born on July 20, 1956, at the historic St. Agnes Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina, to the late Mr. Thomas Edward Bailey (d. 2007) and the late Mrs. Bermadean Wyche Bailey (d. 2016). Paron was the eldest daughter and a cherished light in her family. She held a special place in the hearts of the late Mr. Gurvis Bailey, Sr. (d. 1984) and the late Mrs. Margie Landis Bailey (d.1999) as their first granddaughter and was adored as the second grandchild born to the late Mr. Burman Wyche (d. 1979) and the late Mrs. Alma Harris Wyche (d. 1979).

Early Life and Education

From a young age, Paron’s many gifts began to shine. She trained in ballet, tap, and jazz, took piano lessons, and learned to sew—early reflections of her creativity, grace, and determination.

Paron was educated in the Raleigh Public Schools, attending William H. Fuller Elementary, Charles B Aycock Junior High, and Needham Broughton High School. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from North Carolina Central University in 1978, and later earned both a Master of Theology and a Doctorate in Theology from Jacksonville Theological Seminary in Jacksonville, Florida in 2005. Paron’s early years reflected a balance of artistic talent, academic excellence, and steadfast faith- qualities that would define her life’s work and spiritual calling.

Professional Journey

After college, Paron began her professional career in insurance sales with Lee Faison and Associates, where she excelled and earned numerous awards and travel honors. In 1983, she accepted a management position with Allstate Insurance Company, which led her to Roanoke, Virginia—a city she called home for more than three decades.

While in Roanoke, she also worked with General Electric and the United States Postal Service, serving as both a contractor and civil servant. In 2015, she transferred to the Greensboro Regional Processing and Distribution Center, the mail hub for the region.

After 31 years of dedicated contract and federal service, she retired on April 30, 2025. Throughout her career, Paron was known for her professionalism, leadership, and unwavering commitment to excellence.

Christian Service and Ministry

Paron’s faith was deeply rooted from an early age. Her Christian journey began at Maple Temple United Church of Christ in Raleigh, NC where she was active in Sunday School and the Young Adult Choir. While living in Roanoke, she became a devoted member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Salem, Virginia. Paron served as a “Daughters of the King” Sunday School teacher, member of the Missionary Ministry, and assisted in leading Intercessory Prayer and 40 days of prayer services.

In 2004, she was licensed in ministry and later ordained as an Associate Minister/Evangelist. Her ministry was marked by wisdom, compassion, and sincerity. Her favorite scripture was Proverbs 3: 5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make our paths straight.”

Paron shared the Gospel with joy—teaching, preaching, and evangelizing with a heart full of love. She frequently served as a keynote speaker at numerous Christian workshops and training events. In 2004, Paron was honored as the Zeta Phi Beta Woman of the Year in Roanoke, Virginia, for her Christian leadership and community service.

Legacy of Love

Affectionately known as Pam to her family and friends, she will be remembered for her radiant smile, gentle spirit, delicious meals and unwavering devotion to God and family. She lived with grace, loved deeply, and inspired all who crossed her path. Pam will be remembered for her quick wit, gentle wisdom, kind and uplifting spirit and the unwavering encouragement and generosity she shared with her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her caring and devoted sister, Dr. Freda Bailey Shipman (Keith, Sr.) of Reston, VA; two nephews Keith A. Shipman, Jr., and Thomas H. Shipman. An Uncle Deacon Emeritus Carl W. Bailey, Sr. (Clara), Charlotte, NC; Aunts Mrs. Martha W. Bailey, Raleigh, NC; Mrs. Virginia L. Pam’s light continues to shine through her family and all who were touched by her words and her faith.

She regularly texted daily devotionals to uplift and encourage others, revealing her unshakeable faith and prophetic gift to inspire hope–Pam’s ministry will remain a lasting legacy.

One of her last and most poignant reflections dated October 2, 2025, serves as a living demonstration of how to hold on to our faith in the midst of trials:

“Lord, I’m tired, I’ve prayed, I’ve waited, I’ve trusted, and yet the problems around me look the same – some even worse. But I refuse to let go of you. You are my refuge when life overwhelms me. Your word says in Psalms 46:1 that, "You are my present help in trouble, so I cling to that now.”

To Freda and the Bailey family,

It is with sadness that I have learned of the passing of Paron. Paron and I met in the 10th Grade at Needham B. Broughton. We had the best time with lots of laughs, sharing classes, and sharing stories. I was happy to meet her mother, Mrs. Bailey, and her sister, Freda. As time moved forward, I lost contact with Paron, but I always kept in touch with her, sending messages through Freda. Today, I send my love to Freda and Keith. Although Paron was absent from my presence, she was never absent from my mind and heart. May God strengthen you and keep you during this time today and forever.

My heart is heavy, to hear of this angel gone too soon. I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Bailey whom she was one of the few that would speak to me about the goodness of Jesus, and prayed with me as we did daily. She was a God fearing woman, and so humble. We know God makes no mistakes. There is no pain family that god can't heal. I pray that we look to the hills which cometh your help, your help will come from the Lord family.Minister Naomi Herbin RIP Dr Bailey til we meet again
