Obituary For Faydean U. Robinson

Faydean Utley Robinson was the fourth child born to Clinton and Hoyie Winston Utley on December 10, 1950 in Fuquay, NC.

Faydean’s childhood was happy, free and adventurous as she, along with her many cousins, enjoyed playing outdoors and creating lasting memories. After moving from Fuquay to the city, she met the love her life, Charles Robinson, also known as “Hammer,” at J.W. Ligon High School. Nobody could pronounce “Hammer” quite like Faydean! Married May 15, 1971, Faydean and Charles became one heart, one hand, and one love. To this union they had two beautiful daughters, Elestine (Tina) and Shaunda. Faydean was a devoted mother, doting Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She also had a lasting attachment to her fur babies, Matt and Tazz. Not only was her home immaculate but she made it warm and inviting to everyone and she kept her pantry and refrigerator stocked for her Grands. Faydean was an amazing southern cook of foods and desserts and was always prepared with something to feed friends and family.

Upon graduation from college, she began her professional career at Dillon Supply. Later her professional work included a number of progressive positions at the Department of Public Instruction and the NC General Assembly. She retired first, as Governor Easley’s personal scheduler and ended her professional career at the State Bureau of Investigation. Among many awards and mentions, Faydean received the North Carolina Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award from Governor Michael Easley.

Faydean enjoyed fellowshipping with family and friends in her spare time. She especially enjoyed dancing, good music and great food. She was an active member of the Fuquay Consolidated and Ligon High School Alumni Associations. She was a disciple of Poplar Springs Christian Church, where she was a dedicated member of the Senior Ministry and was celebrated in 2014 as “Ms. Poplar Springs.” Her faith was nurtured at home and church. Exemplary of her faith, she was a steadfast confidant to her sisters, faithful friends to many and dedicated matriarch of her family.

Faydean was preceded in death by her parents and her stepfather, Ralph Johnson, sister Cletta Joyce and brother, Walter Clement.

She will be forever cherished by her husband, Charles B. Robinson, daughters Elestine “Tina” Robinson Mitchener and Dr. Shaunda Robinson Cooper; son-in-Law Larry Mitchener; granddaughters Dwanique W. Tann (Carmel Tann) and Tinae Williams; great-grandchildren Heavenly, Meioni, and Courtlen Charles; sisters Hoyie U. Baker and husband Lattie Baker, Jr. and Shelia Johnson and lifelong companion Chris Leach; brother-in-law Jimmie Robinson and wife Anga; 9 nieces and nephews, 11 great nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.

Visitation 2:00 - 5:00 pm Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at Trice Funeral Home Chapel, 127 N. West Street in Fuquay - Varina, NC 27526

Funeral will be held 12:00 pm Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Poplar Springs Christian Church, 6115 Old Stage Road in Raleigh, NC 27603.
