Faytiny Lucas Garrett, the daughter of the late Noah and Rhoda Lucas, entered the world on February 16, 1940, in Nash County. She entered her eternal rest on April 1, 2026, in the comfort of her home in Holly Springs, NC.
Faytiny received her education in Nash County Public Schools and later attended Shaw University in Raleigh, NC. She was the proud mother of three sons: Rodney Lucas, Donald Webster, Jr., and Nelson “Jerry” Webster. She later found lasting love and partnership with her devoted husband, Tracy Martin Garrett, with whom she shared 46 cherished years.
During her early years, Faytiny was a member of St. Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Spring Hope, NC. In adulthood, she became a faithful and dedicated member of Bazzel Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Fuquay-Varina, NC. Faytiny was a member of the admin staff of Bazzel Creek, serving in the role of Church Secretary for 20 years. She also served faithfully as Sunday School Superintendent and was member of the following ministries: the Seniors Ministry, the Music Ministry, the Outreach Ministry, the Rest Home Ministry, and the DIVA's book club. Professionally, she began her career at Rex Hospital, then later became a librarian at Sanderson High School, where she retired after 32 years.
Faytiny was deeply family-oriented-a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother. She found joy in gathering with family and friends, not matter the occasion. In her quiet moments, she enjoyed putting puzzles together and going shopping.
Faytiny was preceded in death by two sisters, Novella Lucas Sills and Odell Clemons; two brothers, Doramous Lucas and Eddie Lucas; two sons, Rodney G. Lucas and Nelson “Jerry” G. Webster.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her husband, Tracy M. Garrett of Holly Springs, NC; one son, Donald Webster, Jr. (Irene) of Knightdale, NC; two step-sons, Reginald Garrett and Eric Garrett both of Fuquay-Varina, NC, six granddaughters, Moriah Webster of Bronx, NY, Doneshia Webster of Knightdale, NC, Lakreisha Garrett of Raleigh, NC, DeShantay Garrett of Fuquay-Varina, Shaquan Garrett of Baltimore, MD, Tiesha Garrett of Raleigh, NC; two sisters, Susie Johnson, Mary Thrower; three brothers, James (Linda) Lucas, Harold (Ethel) Lucas, Jesse (Evelyn) Lucas, all of Spring Hope, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
