Obituary For Gloria Lucille Haddock
Lucille Spainhour Haddock, 76, of Fuquay-Varina, NC passed away on January 7th, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Lucille was born on August 25th, 1949 in Raleigh NC.
In 1970, Lucille married the love of her life Chris Haddock. She faithfully attended Hilltop Church where she was actively involved in many Bible studies and social events. Lucille was a creative writer and she was devoted to creating daily devotions that she shared via text to her family and friends. Lucille treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren. At any given time you could find her at a sporting event or recitals, she was always their biggest fan. Lucille also enjoyed being outside and working in her yard or walking on the beach. Lucille's love for the Lord was present in everything she did.
Lucille is preceded in death by her parents Rober and Belle Spainhour of Fuquay-Varina, NC. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Chris Haddock, her brothers, Mack Spainhour and Tony Spainhour (Wendy), her children, Shane Haddock (Nicole), Brian Haddock (Danielle) and Crystal Barbour (Wilson), and her grandchildren, Holden, Emma (Mark), Olivia, Caleb, Tucker, Brent, and Annabelle and bonus grandchildren, Haley, Avery, and Meleah.
A service will be held at Hilltop Church, 10212 Fayetteville Road in Fuquay-Varina NC, on Sunday January 11th, 2026 at 2:00 pm with visitation to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the building fund at Hilltop Church.

Tony, my thoughts and prayers are with during this difficult time.
Lucille was a couple of years younger than I but, everyone used to know each other in school when Fuquay Springs had all 12 Grades in one Town block of Ennis, Academy, and Woodrow Streets. Oh the memories of joy and happiness and fun times at ball games, Jr Proms, Annual Days, lots of cherishable memories. The Lord has called another Hill Top Community Friend Home. Tony, one of her brother's, once drove my school bus Number 97. We used to call it 'Pug Nose' because the motor was on the inside. Just small, probably insignificant memories, but, memories just the same. Lucille always had a kind word and a beautiful smile to share and a laugh that would light up a room. To Chris and their Family, my deepest condolences and prayers for God's hugs of love surround you with His comforting peace. John 3:16
Lucille was such a joy to be around, we shared so many laughs together. Being around Chris and Lucille, you couldn't help but feel special; that's just their way. Lucille loved her Lord and Savior, church, family and friends. Time spent with her especially in a thrift store was so much fun, and humorous. She was always uplifting even on her worst days due to her health. I will forever cherish the memories of her and will miss her deeply. I do find comfort in knowing she's in the arms of our Lord and Savior. Until we meet again friend/sis, love you more. Our sincere condolences and prayers to Chris and all the family. I am sad that Lucille has left her earthly home , but now she is in the arms of Jesus no more pain and suffering. She was a woman of God and inspired a lot of people. She had a beautiful smile and always upbeat. I will miss seeing her and talking to her. She will be missed by all who knew her. RIP my friend. Class Mate Julia Tingen
As much as I was saddened to hear about Lucille, I was also rejoicing in the fact that she is with Jesus her Savior. I was privileged to have and call Chris & Lucille as our friends. We often talked about their children and grandchildren. Just as ours, they were their life. We also talked about Jesus and church and how glad we were when they first came to Hilltop. Our prayers are with the family for the days ahead. You will be missed but not forgotten.
I loved Lucille and I saw her always at Hilltop church. When I almost died 3 years ago she quipped--"Oh so you're beating me in going to heaven"!!! I know she's there and I look forward to seeing her soon.
Continuing to keep her family in our prayers. Lucille was such a sweet and loving lady. Her smile and positive attitude would always light up the room. Getting to know her and Chris has been a special blessing to us. Knowing she is in her heavenly home in the arms of our Lord is so comforting. Until we meet again we will miss seeing you each Sunday.
