Obituary For Grace Mary Abbott

Grace Abbott, age 91, died on Friday, November 25 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, N.C. Grace was born in August 1931 on Long Island, N.Y. After High School she attended the Creedmoor State Hospital School of Nursing graduating in 1952 as a Registered Nurse, RN. She continued her education throughout the years obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, BSN and a master's in education. She worked until retirement as a Community Mental Health Nurse.

Grace will be remembered as a lifelong animal lover and champion. She was involved in animal rescue, primarily cats for many years. She was an intelligent person with a wonderful sense of humor. She was an avid gardener, loved decorating for every Holiday, loved shopping and shoes, reading, crossword puzzles and scrabble.

She is survived by her two children, Charlene, Fuquay Varina, N.C., and Richard, Rhinebeck, N.Y.: her goddaughter Judy Corsaro, Long Island, N.Y., and her sister, June Blind, Rock Hill, S.C. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and their children.

It was Grace's wish that no services be held. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Dutchess County SPCA, Hyde Park, N.Y.
