Obituary For Kay Lillian Gaverth

Kay Lillian (Klotz, Bellew) Gaverth, 77, of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, passed away June 26, 2024. Born in Chicago on September 1, 1946, to parents Carl and Dorothy Klotz she grew up in Des Plaines, Illinois. Kay attended Illinois State University and graduated from Concordia University. While working for Xerox, Kay met Doug Bellew and knew she would marry him at first sight and that came true on February 15, 1969. Kay and Doug had one son, David. This trio took many trips both near and far. Doug passed away in 1992 on the morning of their 23rd anniversary. Years later she reconnected with Jim Gaverth from high school, and they wed in 2000. Kay moved to Virginia where she became a part of the Gaverth family. After Jim’s retirement they moved to Leland, NC to embrace Jim’s love of golf. Kay celebrated the marriage of David and Kimberly in 2010 with an excitement that could only be matched by the birth of their grandson’s Logan and Douglas in 2016. When she and Jim moved closer to their newest grandchildren, she received her most cherished title of Grammy Pie.

Kay is being greeted at Heaven’s gates with hugs and kisses by her parents, Carl and Dorothy, husbands, Doug Bellew and Jim Gaverth, and an array of relatives and friends. Many still remain to share the stories of her life including her sister Betty (Ted, deceased), brother Terry (Nancy), son David (Kim) Bellew and stepchildren Kathy (Teddy) Tapawan, Tim (Jeannie) Gaverth, and Bryan (Jasmine) Gaverth. She will forever be known as the cherished Grammy Pie by Douglas and Logan and Grandmother to Jessica, Michael, Katie, Tabbi, TJ, Jonah, Brandon, Joey, and Matthew.

Funeral will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at G. L. Hills Funeral Home, Ltd, 745 Graceland Avenue in Des Plaines, IL 60016.

Burial: Ridgewood Memorial Park in Des Plaines, IL.
