On September 18, 1971, the world gained a giant Kevin Renard Walker. Affectionately known as “Kev” and "Coach Daddy," Kevin was the second of two sons born to the late Thomas and the late Carolyn Walker at Petersburg General Hospital in Virginia. Kev peacefully transitioned in his home of Raleigh, NC on July 22, 2025. Kevin grew up in Chesterfield, VA, where he attended Ettrick Elementary School, Matoaca Middle School, and Matoaca High School.
A true sports enthusiast, Kev was a proud catcher for Ettrick Little League Baseball and a power forward for the Matoaca High JV Basketball Team, helping lead them to the Regional Championship. He later played on the Varsity team before relocating to Raleigh, North Carolina for his senior year. Kev graduated from W.G. Enloe Magnet GT High School, then went on to attend East Carolina University.
Kevin’s strong work ethic and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He worked for many years as the manager of Meredith College’s Print and Copy Center and as a dedicated sales associate at Ample Storage. Since 2007, Kev proudly served as the assistant coach for Meredith College’s women’s basketball team, the Avenging Angels. His love for his players and his passion for the game were unmistakable. He also previously coached for the Neuse Baptist Church basketball team, giving back to his community with the same joy and dedication.
Kevin had a gift for making people feel seen, valued, and loved. To know Kev, meant you loved him, and you were surely having the time of your life when around him. Kev’s influence spread and helped everyone in his vicinity grow and laugh. He was committed to excellence and encouraged everyone around him to excel. His presence was magnetic—his laughter, encouragement, and energy lifted everyone around him.
Of all his accomplishments, Kev’s greatest joy was his family. He adored his beautiful daughter and treasured every moment spent with his precious granddaughters.
Kevin Walker's life was a blessing to all and a memory to treasure. To cherish his legacy forever, he leaves his beloved and only daughter, Aleah Walker; his three cherished granddaughters: Zuri, Zyah, and Zadale; his brother, Jeffrey DeRon Walker; two nephews, Aaron Walker and Ryan Walker; one niece, Ashley Walker; and his “bonus brothers,” Harold Trice, Jr., and Carlos Clements. He also leaves behind his uncles; Clint Walker (Joyce), and Carl A. Trice, aunts; Blanche Walker and Vera Carson-Walker and host of cousins, extended family, and friends; the Meredith Avenging Angels basketball family; and countless lives that were touched by his compassion, humor, and light.
Kev was—and will always be—the G.H.O.A.T.: the Greatest Human of All Time.

Sincere condolences to Kevin's family. He was an awesome co-worker and will be missed.
Thankful to have known such a great guy. Our fun days from childhood at MHS will never be forgotten. Sincere condolences to the family.
To my God Brother may you Rest in the Arms of God and God Bless my Family
As we grieve, we give thanks to have known such a wonderful soul from childhood. There are many memories that were filled with laughter and love. Walker/Trice family may you find peace and strength during this difficult time and may God continue to keep you and bless you. -Harold & Doris Williams and Family
My heart aches over the loss of Kevin, and doubly for his family. In my opinion, to characterize one as "A GOOD PERSON" is the highest tribute that can be paid to another person. Kevin was "A Good Person." These beautiful tributes confirm my every interaction with Kevin, consistently patient, kind, professional, and always with the utmost respect. He was consistently a good human being. All who knew him are more diminished with his passing.
My condolences to the Walker & Trice Family. Kevin you will be missed! Rest In Peace. Love you Fam., Linda Wiggins & Capathia
Kevin was HILARIOUS!! We would catch up whenever I visited Meredith College. He was so supportive and caring. My condolences to his beautiful family. Rest in peace, Kevin...
Kevin was one of the kindest and most genuine people I've ever known. He always had wisdom to share, a story to tell, or a laugh to offer. He spoke with such pride about his daughter and loved showing off photos of his beautiful grandbabies—they were the light of his life.
Over Fourth of July weekend, I found myself semi-stranded at the Raleigh Amtrak station. I texted Kevin and without hesitation, he showed up. He was ready to get me something to eat, offer me a place to stay, and make sure I got home safely. Knowing him, I truly believe he would've driven me all the way back to Charlotte if I'd needed it.
That's just the kind of man he was—generous, dependable, and full of heart. Though I can't attend his homegoing service, I'm holding his family in love, peace, and healing. Kevin will be deeply missed.
My heartfelt condolences to the Walker & Trice family during this most difficult time. May the love of family & friends bring you comfort today and the days ahead.
All of our heartfelt prayers and condolences to the entire Trice family.
Extending condolences to the Walker & Trice Family. 2 Corinthians 5:1, "For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." Sorrowfully submitted, Deacon Garnell Heggie & Reverend Dr. Mary Heggie
I will be attending his Celebration of Life (Live In Faith Everyday), as he did... I delivered the Meredith campus'' needs for printer paper for Him.
Kevin was a very humbled man, strong in his Faith & to all others, before himself. The principles of GOD ran through him, so amazingly. I had run out of allergy medicine (we both had asthma, as well) one day, last month. He mentioned he took, Zyrtec for his allergies (same for me). And gave me His last 1. He truly understood humanity, just as his Faith in GOD lead him.
Wishing all who loved & knew Kevin fully, know His at peace with the Lord GOD Almighty.
Rest in Peace my colleague & dear friend...
Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
To my family, got to know Kevin even more this year. He was a cool dude with a great smile with a personality to match. Your parents would proud of you and loving the great grands. RIP
Kevin Walker, was a bright light in this world. He was always a positive presence for all who knew him. I knew him as head of Print and Copy services and as Assistant Coach of the Meredith Basketball Team. His players and his head coaches thought the world of him, a man of principle, positivity, and commitment. All who knew him were for the better for their interactions. I am sad that such a wonderful person died too young. He will always be remembered for nurturing students and staff. A great human being, the best of the best. Marie Chamblee (Dean of EHHS, emeritus) Huge Basketball fan.

I met Kevin when he helped us with our 50th reunion book at Meredith. By the time that project was completed, I considered him a friend. He made the project fun and much easier with his guidance. Most importantly, he had such patience with our endless questions. He gave us a special "tour" one day and it was clear that he was so proud of the print shop at Meredith and the equipment that allowed him to do special things for the College. I saw him in a restaurant not too long ago and was able to introduce my husband to him. We ended that brief conversation with a hug. I am so glad that I was able to thank him once more for his help. My heart goes out to Kevin's family in your loss. I will hold you in my prayers.
May love and peace surround you during this difficult time. Jackie(Cuz) and Paul Jones
I remember my first visit to the Copy Center to pick up a print job. What should have been an in-and-out 2 minutes evolved into a 30-minute chat session. Though this was our first encounter, Kevin talked my head off as though we had been working together for years. His smile while sharing the most interesting stories was contagious. Grateful, I am, to have been in the presence of this kind soul. My condolences to his family, friends, and fellow Meredith College colleagues.
Thank you for making me laugh, being a great colleague, mentoring so many Meredith students, but most of all for being my friend. I will miss you.
Praying for your family. Aleah, you and your girls were the light of his life. I'm glad you have so many good memories of a great man.
Death takes the body. God takes the soul. Our mind holds the memories. Our heart keeps the love. Our faith lets us know we will meet again. Dude! You're in line with Malcolm Jamal-Warner and Ozzy Osborne!
"Kevo" was my guy! We became good friends when he started working at Avis. We had great talks and good laughs talking about family, crazy customers, sports, and movies, among other things. Big Kev was a great guy with a big heart for others. I can't remember a time that he wasn't sharing advice, his talents or resources with others. Gonna miss you big time my friend. Condolences and prayers to your daughter, grand babies and entire family. Hold closely and embrace the wonderful memories and the lessons he taught you. May God continue to strengthen the family and help navigate your journey ahead.
Well son we didn't get to go shopping yet. You will be truly missed by me, Kathie and all your friends and family. Love you son.

We send our deepest condolences to the Walker and Trice families.
My condolences to Kevin's family and friends. He was just the kindest person, and always willing to help. What an unbelievable loss to the community. Sending prayers for comfort and peace.
Fighting tears and arguing with myself over whether I should I select the Carolina blue candle or the Pirate purple one in Kevin's memory, I find myself smiling as I remember Kevin ribbing me over another Florida State basketball loss to UNC, or us just commiserating about our respective football teams. Even when he is not with us, he is making us smile - that is Kevin. He was so genuinely excited that my child was going to UNC. Genuine - that is Kevin. Kind, comforting, and caring - that is Kevin. Rest in peace, friend.
My condolences to the family. We pray that you allow God to strengthen you during this time. He was well-loved by so many. His smile and his kindness will forever be remembered. Pastor Valissa Moore
To the Walker/Trice Family. My sincere condolences to you and your family.
Sending love, comfort, prayers, and strength to the Walker and Trice Family. May God continue to comfort you now and in the future.
Mere words fail me of the loss of my brother, Kevin. It is often said, this, too shall pass. They say grief eventually fades, but those saying are of little comfort when you are in the valley of grief. They say that time heals all, and yes, this I know is true, because I too have experienced the valley of grief.
To the Walker/Trice Family, trusting God during this difficult time will be your source of strength, and together we will see this through.
Philippians 4:6-7: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Sending My Condolences and Prayers to the Family. Angela Davis Mitchell and Family
We are heartbroken to hear of this loss to his family and especially those grandkids he couldn't stop talking about and showing everyone the latest photos! He was always so willing to help with whatever last minute project or print job you had and took an authentic interest in your personal and professional life. The loss is great for the Meredith community where I first met Kevin. His friendship and support continued far beyond my Meredith graduate school.
My condolences and prayers to the Walker and Trice Family.
My Sincere Condolences To The Family and Friends, May God Strength You During This Difficult Time. I Knew Kevin From Working At Meredith College.
Sending deepest condolences and prayers to friends and family on the loss of your loved one
I always appreciated Kevin's deadpan humor and kindness. He always had time for a chat when folks visited the copy center. Truly a fixture at Meredith. This is such a loss for the Meredith community, but more importantly for his family. Our thoughts are with you all.
I am deeply saddened by Kevin's passing. I knew him from working at Meredith College and always appreciated his helpful expertise. However, I really appreciated the humanity of the man who always asked about me and my colleagues when I visited his office for our printing needs. Our conversations ran deep and touched on matters personal, historical, political, and spiritual. The loss of such a beautiful spirit is immense. We are all worse off without him. May God's peace be with Kevin and all of his family, friends and colleagues.
As I have been reminiscing since hearing of Kevin's passing, I can only hear "Aunt Carolyn's" reaction to Kevin joining her and "Uncle Walker." Aunt Carolyn kept me laughing so imagining how she reacted brings a smile to me even when deep down the pain is real. Sincere thoughts and prayers are extended to Kevin's entire family. We never know the day, hour, minute or second. "Be ye also ready" is becoming very clear.🙏🏾
I'm extremely blessed to have known Kevin these last 8 years. He was the proudest father and grandpa. The greatest coworker. One of my closest friends. Sending all my love to Aleah and his favorite baby girls.
My neighbor my friend my basketball buddy I'm truly going to miss U. RIP Kevin
The father figure we all needed. Rest well Walker ❤️

For over 10 years, Kevin and I spoke almost every day. We shared life's highs and lows, celebrations, struggles, and everything in between. He was someone I deeply trusted. Kevin often spoke with pride about his daughter and grandchildren and his love and admiration for them will always shine through. I will miss him dearly. Thank you for one of the best friendships I've ever had.
