Obituary For Linda Thorpe

On Friday morning, April 19, 2024, in Piscataway, NJ, God called one of His faithful servants home to rest, from earth to Glory, after 79 years of living a quiet, yet, fulfilled life. Naturally, we will miss her, but God knew best, and welcomed her home.

Daughter, Linda Faye was born May 15, 1944, in Wake County, North Carolina to the late Boston Smith and Ruthie Connie Adams Smith. She was the sister of the late Bobby Clifton Smith and Leon Adams Smith, both of whom preceded her in death.

Student, Linda Faye attended primary school at Garner Consolidated in Wake County North Carolina. She attained an outstanding education. Her mother helped her earn the title of Ms. Garner Consolidated. She also wore the crown of Homecoming Queen. Boy, did they celebrate. School rumor listed that she and her brother had the best of everything.

Sister, Linda Faye joined the Saint Anna Freewill Baptist Church in Willow Springs, NC at the age of twelve. She was faithful in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and the Union Meetings. She also served as Church Secretary, under the leadership of Revered L. T. Ford. She would always greet you with a lovely smile, and had pleasant greetings for whomever crossed her path. Her voice was so calm and soothing. Even when her health declined, she never wavered from her Christian values and Biblical beliefs.

Wife, Linda Faye was united in holy marriage, October 26, 1963 to the late Dannie L. Thorpe. Her husband nourished his wife by caring for her physical, spiritual, and emotional needs. He always made her a priority and regularly expressed his affection, devotion, and commitment to her. From that holy union, she became the mother of one very special daughter, Cynthia Thorpe.

Mother, Linda Faye was an excellent mother, and she cherished and adored Cynthia. They shared the purest form of love. Whenever you saw one, you saw the other. She always wanted the best and never compromised on the quality of that love toward her daughter. It cannot be compared to others because a mother’s love is inexpressible.

Grandmother, Linda Faye did love her only grandchild, Demetri L. Thorpe. She represented warm hugs and sweet memories. She remembered all of his accomplishments, and she forgot all of his mistakes. They always showed one another love, and respect and had open communication. She loved the job of grandma for all of the little reasons. They were best of friends. Bank of Grandma was his nickname for her.

Aunt, Linda Faye cherished her brother’s children, five nieces and four nephews: Phyllis Williams, Reginald Badgett, Steven Leon Smith, Thomas Clifton Smith, Rebecca Michele Foster, April Smith, Sarah Smith-Ruiz, and Callie Smith. Their love was reciprocated.

Cousin, relative, coworker, neighbor, and our precious friend, Linda Faye, today, we will continue to celebrate her life and legacy. Our love for her will never fade.

Viewing: 11:00 am - 12:00 pm Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Trice Funeral Home Chapel in Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.

Funeral will be held 12:00 pm on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Trice Funeral Home Chapel, 127 N. West Street in Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.

Burial: Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S Wilmington Street in Raleigh, NC.

To the Smith and Thorpe families. Linda and I were close friends from elementary to high school we're a part of the GCHS class of 1962. We lived in the same community and had often visits.I loved Mrs.Ruthie, Mr.Boston and that Leon, who loved aggravating us. Linda Faye was a beautiful kind person, always had a smile and kind words. She was like a sister to me, and as we got to adulthood we drifted apart. When I lived in New Jersey another friend and I paid her a surprised visit. Rest well Linda, you will be missed and always loved.

To Linda Smith Thorpe's family and friends. I knew Linda many years ago when we were in the seventh grade together at Garner Consolidated School. My family were sharecroppers. Sometimes food was scarce. Linda sat in the chair in front of me. On this particular day I had no lunch. The sweet girl in front of me, turned around and offered me part of her sandwich. I gladly accepted her act of kindness. After the Eighth Grade I never saw Linda again. She has remained a part of my memory until this day. I have shared her memory all over the world . Please accept my family's condolences for a girl named LINDA . May she rest in peace.
