With profound love and gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate the legacy of Mable Elaine Lucas Norris, a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and faithful servant of God.
Mable was a graduate of Fuquay Consolidated High School, Class of 1968. Soon after graduating, she relocated to New York to care for children of her extending family. She began her professional career as a telephone operator with BellSouth, later returning to North Carolina where she continued her employment with BellSouth and AT & T. She eventually joined Child Nutrition Services for Wake County Public School System, where she worked until retirement.
In 1977, Mable married Brue Norris. Through this union, they were blessed with two children, Candace and Lee, and later a grandson, Josiah, who brought her immeasurable joy. Mable's faith was a guiding light throughout her life. She was a member at Miracle Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church and later joined Redeemed Apostolic Church of Christ.
Mable was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce and brother Joseph Lucas. She is survived by her mother, Etta Mae Lucas; children, Candace Norris and Lee Norris (Dona); grandson, Josiah Norris; brothers, Edward Lucas (Deborah R.) and Wilbur Lucas; sisters, Wilma Lucas and Sharon Lucas; brothers-in-law, Ronald Norris, Harold Norris (Phyllis), Danny Norris (Emma), Clee Norris (Darlene), and Vincent Norris; sister-in-law, Deborah L. Lucas and Janice Norris; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mable found joy in life's simple pleasures - watching westerns, solving crossword puzzles, turning into cooking shows, and most of all, spending time with her family. Her grace, generosity, and quiet strength will be remembered by all who has the privilege of knowing her.
Memorial Service will be held 12:00 pm on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Trice Funeral Home Chapel, 127 N. West Street in Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.
