Maggie “Little Maggie” Lee Burch was born on March 15, 1952, to the late Wardell and Lillie Burch. She departed this life on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, NC.
She received her high school diploma from Hoke County High School, in Raeford, NC. Throughout her life she was known as a loving caretaker and worked for Wake County Public System serving the children in the cafeteria. She was also a nature woman who loved to go fishing.
Maggie was known for her big heart, and she loved to help people in need. She was also known as a “straight shooter” who wasn’t afraid to tell you what was on her mind. She also loved her family and cherished spending quality time with her loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis McDonald; her son, Vernon Lee Leach; and brother, Robert Richardson.
She leaves to cherish in her memories: 2 sons, Otis Burch (Ashley) of Wake Forest, NC, Christopher Leach of Lillington, NC; and 1 daughter, Vickie Simmons (Gerald) of Raleigh, NC. Her brother, Odell Burch (Bernice) of Willow Springs, NC; two sisters, Della Burch of Chalybeate Springs, NC; and Bernice Richardson of Raeford, NC; and 1 sister-in-law, Louise Richardson of Garner, NC. She was also a devoted grandmother of 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a special friend, Weldon Burch.
Funeral will be held 11:00 am on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Trice Funeral Home Chapel, 127 N. West Street in Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.
Burial: Mission Temple Church Cemetery.
