Mary Lou Evans was born in Wake County, North Carolina, on July 4, 1948, to the late Leroy and Margaret Davis. She was called to eternal rest on March 5, 2026, at UNC Chapel Hill.
Our loved one was united in holy matrimony to James Dennis Evans, who preceded her in death.
At an early age, she joined Bazzel Creek Baptist Church in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina. In later years, she moved her membership to Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Apex, North Carolina. Mary was a servant of God and a very active member at Mt. Zion. Her faith empowered her to faithfully carry out the duties of several ministries, including being a choir member, church usher, and a dedicated missionary.
Mary retired from Apex Cooper Tools as a crane operator. After retiring from Cooper Tools, she was later employed by Wake County Public Schools. Throughout her employment career. Mary formed many long-lasting friendships.
After retirement, Mary spent her days doing the things she loved most. She especially enjoyed the peaceful moments by the water, often spending time fishing with family and friends. Sewing and gardening were among her favorite pastimes. Whether she was casting a line, sewing, or working in her garden, those simple moments brought her great joy. Mary never met a stranger and had a special way of touching the hearts of everyone she met.
Mary was preceded in death by her son, Tyrone Evans; her sisters, Doris Davis Judd and Rosa Davis Lassiter; and her brother Jimmy Davis.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory; daughter, Veronica Evans Johnson of Durham, North Carolina; son, Dennis Evans of Apex, North Carolina; two granddaughters, Zanita Evans of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Brooklyn Hester of Lillington, North Carolina; one grandson, Michael Jackson of Zebulon, North Carolina; special great-granddaughters, Armani Evans, and Niomi Lyon; great-grandsons, Tyre Lyon and Chozyn Hester; special nephew, Tony Evans; special niece, Teresa Evans; two brothers, Ben Davis of Apex, North Carolina, and Larry Davis (Margaret) of Cary, North Carolina and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and bonus children.
