Pastor Darnell Maurice Brown (affectionately known as Maurice and Mo) was born in Roselle, New Jersey, on December 6, 1965, to Lemi Simmons and the late Mary Louise Brown.
He attended Wake County schools and furthered his education at Chowan College, where he obtained a degree in Graphic Communications. In 1991 he was united in holy matrimony to Ms. Pamela Stewart for 35 years, and to this union, one son and two daughters were born: Justin, Kalyn, and Fayth.
At an early age, he joined New Life Community Church. As he grew in Christ, he later joined Barbee's Chapel Harvest Word Ministries, where he served faithfully. He was a leader of praise and worship and was later ordained as a pastor, teaching and preaching the Word of God. He also received his bachelor's degree from Safe Haven Interdenominational Bible College and Training Institute.
He had a passion for people, always pouring into their lives and sharing about the awesome God he served. He loved his family dearly and cherished family vacations and gatherings. He was also a devoted fan of UNC basketball and was one of their biggest supporters. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing and relaxing in his recliner, watching movies from his personal collection.
For 39 years, he worked in graphic communications and was well-known pressman throughout his career. He began his career in Raleigh, North Carolina, with Edwards & Broughton. Several years later, he continued his work in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, with Riverside Printing. In his later years, he moved to Classic Graphics in Morrisville, North Carolina, and completed his career at Millennium Print Group in Durham, North Carolina.
He leaves to cherish memory his loving wife, Pamela Brown; his three children, one son, Justin Brown of Knightdale, North Carolina, and two daughters, Kalyn Eason (Christopher) of Angier, North Carolina, and Fayth Brown of the home; one sister, Monique Brown; one brother, Mansfield Smith, two very special aunts, Regina Burt (William) and Gwen Harris; and one uncle, Charlie Brown. He leaves two grandchildren, Jace Eason and Zoey Eason; two brothers in law, Bona Stewart (Ida) and William Stewart; three sisters in law, Sherlene Jones, Angela Jones (Ron), and Cindy Stewart; one Godson, Aaron Zollicoffer, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

To the Brown family: I had the privilege of working with Maurice at MPG (and Classic). I want you to know what a difference Mo made to our company and our people. If the measure of a person is the lasting impact they leave behind, you can be assured Mo left an indelible mark here at MPG. He was respected and admired by all who had the opportunity to work with him, a consummate professional and a great teacher. In dealing with his own terminal illness, Maurice's grace and dignity was another lesson for us all. We miss him.
I'll always remember Mr.Brown's sweet spirit, as he would come visit Fayth and I as we were in college. He never left without praying over us. Such a loving man and a kind heart. He would light up any room with his smile. My heartfelt sympathy and love to the family.

Mo was a co-worker of mine. At anytime I needed words of wisdom. He was the man to go to for clarity. He was a god send. That was stronger than most. His children were blessed with a great father. Wife was blessed with a great man. That will always be remembered. By the ones that he touched ππ½ππ½ππ½ππ½

Condolences and Prayers to the Brown Family..
Maurice was a classmate of mine. My memories of him were of a kind and gentle young man. From reading the other condolences, I can tell that nothing changed into adulthood. My heart is saddened for your family's loss on this side of eternity. As a pastor once told me, those who die in the Lord only change their address! They are not lost! My prayers for you are that your happiest memories bring you comfort and joy and that you feel the nearness of God deeply until you are reunited with Maurice in eternity!
With My Deepest Sympathy, Susan (Myrick) Ferguson FVHS Class of 1984
