Ronald (Ronnie) Levi Baker, 76, went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 15th, 2023. To know him was to love him. 1 Corinthians 13: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs.” According to this scripture: Ronnie WAS Love.
He will be greatly missed and there will forever be a hole in our hearts where his quiet strength showed us unconditional love and support in all things.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Levi and Edna Baker and his sister, Ann Harrington.
Ronnie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Janie Powell Baker: his children, Shanta Baker Chavis of Dunn (Keith Chavis), Kristen Baker Gulden of Salemburg (Rob Gulden); Ryan Tutor of Willow Spring (Kelly Tutor), and Jana Tutor Askeland of Raleigh (Dr. Erik Askeland). Ronnie was blessed to have many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Cody, Kasey, Dalton, Kadence, Katie, Colton and Beckett and Maddie, Saylor and Parker. He will also be greatly missed by his brother, Larry Baker of Fuquay-Varina.
Ronnie was proud to have served in the National Guard and in many facets of his community through years of dedicated church service. He was a shining example of a Godly Christian man and started a Gospel quartet to share the joy of Jesus through music. Ronnie played guitar and was a gifted artist.
It is with heartfelt gratitude that we offer thanks to the nurses, doctors and all the ICU staff at WakeMed Cary.

We are deeply saddened by your loss. Please accept our heartfelt condolences.Steve and Joan Roche
It was a gift that some weeks ago I called Janie and Ronnie answered. We had a lovely conversation. It was meant to be. Ronnie and I had so much in common and shared the love of our military, art, family, and his devotion to his wife. My heart is broken for Janie, but God gives us the strength to carry on. She has the support of her lovely family. He went to the Lord knowing that, which in itself was such a gift. For five years we were neighbors and Janie and Ronnie became my family. Now so far away in Vermont, I grieve that I am not able to be there with her. But I am there with you all in spirit, as is Ronnie. Pay attention and you will see signs of his presence. as he loved you all so much that he is still here with you. With much love, Jeanne
We send our love and heartfelt sympathy to Janie and Family. We have shared so many memories of our time together. We loved you both so much. Our continued prayers in the days to come for strength and peace of heart that can only come from Our Lord. God bless you Janie. Love Terry & Pat Tutor
