Mr. Ronald Atlee Watson (Babe), the youngest sibling, was born in Johnston County, North Carolina, to the late Percy Watson and Adell Sims Watson on November 1, 1957. Ronald passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025, at age 67. He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Adell Sims Watson; and three brothers, Percy Earl Watson, Brandt Watson, and Lynwood Watson.
Ronald attended school in Johnston County, NC. He graduated from Clayton High School in 1976. He played varsity basketball as a guard and football for the Clayton Comets as a linebacker on defense. After graduating from high school, PFC Ronald Watson joined the Army and was enlisted for a nine-year term. Ronald had a great passion for sports, politics, and a love of family. He was a huge Carolina Tar Heel fan.
Previously, he worked as a cook at North Carolina State University for several years. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for friends and family. He often showed compassion to people he interacted with and always helped others when he could. During his teenage years, he attended Oakey Grove Baptist Church, and later, as an adult, he attended various local churches.
Ronald leaves behind a son, Raki Watson; a daughter-in-law, Sharonda Watson; and three grandchildren—Prince Watson, Messiah Watson, and Empress Watson—all from Georgia to cherish his memory. He also leaves a sister, Rochelle Watson Reed (George), of Garner, NC; a brother, Winston O. Watson (Jean), of Raleigh, NC; and a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation: 12:00 - 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Poplar Springs Christian Church in Raleigh, NC.
Funeral will be held 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Poplar Springs Christian Church, 6115 Old Stage Road in Raleigh, NC.

I barned tobacco with Ronald and played football and basketball with him. He was one funny guy and would hit you on the football field. I regret not reconnecting with him later in life. He was a good man and a patriot for serving his country. He will be missed!

I have many cherished memories of Ronald and our family living on an old country dirt road in Clayton, NC. It seems we became family before I ever married into the family because we visited each other's homes often. I will miss his laugh, and I am grateful Winston and I had the chance to see him two consecutive weeks before his passing. Rest in peace, brother-in-law. You will be missed.
