Mrs. Ruby Judd Watson, who was born on September 7, 1951, in Wake County, North Carolina, and peacefully transitioned on October 7, 2025.
Ruby was the beloved wife of James Watson, her lifelong soulmate and partner in love and laughter. Together they built a home rooted in devotion, warmth, and family. Their union was blessed with one cherished son, James Craig Watson (Anika), who brought her immeasurable joy and pride. To Ruby, Craig could do no wrong—her love for him was as steadfast as her smile. Ruby was also a proud grandmother, affectionately known as “Grandma” to Jasmyne Watson and Jade Watson, Her heart also extended to Shannon Judd, her niece and “non-biological daughter.” From a young age, Shannon spent so much time by Ruby’s side that many thought she was her daughter—and in every way that mattered, she was. Ruby’s love also enveloped Shannon’s two children, who held a very special place in her heart. To Ruby, if the children wanted something, they got it. As she often said, “Get them children what they want—they didn’t ask to be here!” And if you didn’t, she surely would.
Ruby was the only girl among four siblings, and she adored her brothers deeply. She leaves behind - Falton Judd Jr. (Varetta) of Garner, NC, John Judd (Betty) of Raleigh, NC and Dicky Judd (Vonne) of Raleigh, NC.
She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Ella Mae Clemons (Jake) and Falton Judd Sr. A proud graduate of Cary High School, Ruby was known not only for her beauty but for her kind and gentle spirit. She carried herself with quiet strength, a radiant smile, and an unwavering grace that left an impression on everyone she met.
Ruby’s love for her husband, James, was unmatched. If he ever slipped out of her sight, you could hear her tenderly calling, “Wat! Wat! Where are you?” The two were inseparable—true partners through every season of life. Ruby cherished her family deeply and often spoke of the love and care shown to her by James and Craig. She would often express her gratitude for how James took care of her without complaint, and for how Craig was always there to help his father, no matter how long his day had been.
Even through life’s toughest battles, Ruby’s strength and spirit never wavered. She faced every challenge with faith, resilience, and her signature smile—never complaining, always shining. Her laughter, her warmth, and her love will continue to echo through the hearts of all who knew her. Ruby also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will forever cherish her love, laughter, and light. Ruby’s memory will forever be a beacon of love, kindness, and beauty to her family and friends. Though her earthly journey has ended, her legacy of joy, grace, and unconditional love will live on.
