Obituary For Ruby Lee Windom

On March 3, 2023, Ruby Windom got her wings and went to walk with the angels. She was 77 years old. She was born to the late Sam Windom and Nina Windom on August 25, 1945, in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina. She grew up in Fuquay and spent most of her adult years in Washington, DC.

She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend. Ruby was the epitome of an extremely compassionate and giving person. She always surrounded herself with her family and friends which is where she felt most comfortable and loved. It would be wrong to say that Ruby lost her battle with her brief illness, because she never stopped fighting. There was no quit in Ruby! No matter how sick she was, she was always happy and determined. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. She would routinely state, “When the Lord is ready for me, I’m ready for him.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Nina Windom; sister, Joyce Windom; and close relatives, Mayola Jones, Betty Lou Stewart, and Mary Penny. Ruby memories will be forever treasured by a very special daughter, Michelle Windom-Parham (Darren) of Grovetown, GA; grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Nina Parham, Mia Parham, and Shontavia Crump; great-grandchildren, Aniyah Stringer, Kymani Alex, and KaSyn Dukes; devoted nieces who checked on her daily, Joyce Hill (Love) of Raleigh, NC, and Joyce Cole (Freeman) of Cary, NC; very special nieces, Tawan Partridge of Raleigh, NC, Benita Hawthorne (Darius) of Clayton, NC, Rachelle Partridge, and Demonica Crump; nephews, Lewis Deon Partridge, Maurice Deshon Arnold, and Aaron Partridge; additionally, she leaves behind dedicated friends, Joanne Seawell, Saddie Stackhouse, Bertha Hamlet, Phyllis Hicks, and Ms. Alice.

Viewing: 11:00 am - 12:00 pm Friday, March 10, 2023 at Trice Funeral Home Chapel in Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.

Funeral will be held at 12:00 pm Friday, March 10, 2023 at Trice Funeral Home Chapel, 127 N. West Street in Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526. Capacity limit for the service will be 80 people.

Burial: Starlight Memorial Gardens, Lois Lane in Holly Springs, NC 27540.
