Virgie Lee Robinson was born on September 1, 1928, to David and Lula Hinton. She was reared and nurtured in a loving home as the youngest of six children.
Virgie was educated in Wake County. She joined St. Mary’s FWB Church at an early age. She left North Carolina in her late teens and moved to New York where she meet and married George Robinson. Virgie had no children of her own, but she did foster parenting for a while. She made her living doing domestic work, and everyone she worked for loved her. She was a member of The New Frontier Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York, under the spiritual guidance of the late Pastor Dr. John Quincy Adams. She served in the choir and was a faithful member until she transferred to The Mt. Sion Baptist Church of Brooklyn, New York, under the spiritual guidance of Pastor Dan J. Craig, Jr., a former member of The New Frontier Baptist Church and whom she would always call her son. Upon returning to North Carolina, she rejoined St. Mary’s FWB Church where she was a choir member until her health wouldn’t allow it.
Virgie was preceded in death by her brothers, Theodore (Olivia), David (Henrietta), Roosevelt (Hazel), and Carlyle (Clarine); and sister, Mary (Ellis).
She leaves to cherish her memories: a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and other relatives and friends.
The family would also like to thank the caregivers from Transition Life Care for all the love and support they were to our Aunt Virgie.
