William Travis Mims, known as “Ball Head” to those closest to him, was the only child of the late William Warren Harris and Ruby Jean Mims. He was born on December 21, 1964, and peacefully transitioned to eternal rest on June 27, 2025, at the Lower Cape Fear Life Care Hospice in Wilmington, NC.
William was educated by the Wake County Public School System. He worked many years at Wake Enterprise, until his health began to decline.
William was a very loving person and never met a stranger. He loved the Lord and loved praising him, giving him glory. His favorite song was “I don't know what you come to do”. He deeply loved his family and friends. He was especially excited when he was able to buy his favorite drink, Coca Cola. William enjoyed going out to eat and playing basketball. William's sweet loving spirit will be greatly missed by all.
William leaves to cherish his memory, his aunt whom he called “Mama”, Missionary Linda Ray (Donnell); uncles, Phillip Mims (Pastor Jessie), Gregory Trent Mims, and Elmo Harris (Clarice); aunts, Brenda Mims, Mary Agnus Harris, Leslie Mims, and Patricia Collins Mims. William's laughter and infectious smile will never be forgotten by his many cousins that were more like siblings and all his friends.
Memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at 11:00 am at Trice Funeral Home Chapel, 127 N. West Street in Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.
