Obituary For William Wayne Harris
William Wayne Harris, son of the late James Harris and Lillie Mae Adams, entered this world October 28, 1945, in Wake County, NC, and departed this earthly home on May 18, 2026.
Wayne was preceded in death by his brothers, Rudolph Adams, Frazier Harris, Thomas Harris, and J. P. Harris; and sisters, Patricia Perkins and Helen Howard; and one daughter, Terrie Shaw.
Wayne worked at Public Gas Service of Raleigh for 36 years. He loved to stay home, cook, and watch TV. He enjoyed listening to music and playing with the grandkids.
Wayne was united in holy matrimony to Mary Gladys McLeod October 21, 1967. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren very much.
Wayne leaves to cherish his memories; a devoted wife of 59 years, Mary Gladys McLeod of the home; five children, Anthony McLeod of Angier, NC, Jackie Dennis of Holly Springs, William Wayne Harris, Jr. of Raleigh, NC, and Rosalyn Teaser Harris of Angier, NC; one brother, Roosevelt Harris of Cary, NC, and one sister, Dorothy Morant (James) of Baltimore, MD; three sister-in-law, Rachel Adams of Holly Springs, Bessie Tomlinson (James) of Raleigh, NC, and Clora Jean Burt of Raleigh, NC; twelve grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Public viewing: 1:00 - 6:00 pm on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Trice Funeral Home Chapel, 127 N. West Street in Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.
Visitation: 12:00 - 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Holly Springs United Church of Christ in Holly Springs, NC 27540.
Funeral will be held 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Holly Springs United Church of Christ, 116 3rd Street in Holly Spring, NC 27540.
Burial: Holly Springs United Church of Christ Cemetery in Holly Springs, NC 27540.
