Mr. Ike Vester King, more affectionately known as “I.V.”and “Bones”, was born on March 31, 1940 to the late Mrs. Mary Daniely King and the late Mr. Passmore King in Thomaston, Upson County, Georgia. At an early age, he joined the Saint Mary AME Church. After the passing of his parents, he was lovingly cared for by his aunt, Mrs. Elnora Green until her passing. He was educated in the public school of Upson County. When he reached adulthood, he found employment at Silvertown Pharmacy as a prescription deliverer. He was the father of two children. One son preceded him in death. He was well known in Thomaston and he enjoyed being around his family and spending time with his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Jeffery Renard King; two brothers, Carry King and Jimmy Worthy; a devoted aunt, Mrs. Elnora Green, and a devoted cousin, Mrs. Annie Mae Chatman. On Sunday, April 26, 2020, the Lord called his name. He answered and went home to rest. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. He leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter, Ms. Vickie Dikes of Columbus, GA; four grandchildren, Mr. Darrius (Bridget) Crafter of Jacksonville, FL, Ms. Latoya Copeland of Thomaston, GA, Mr. Roderick L. (Tamela) Smith and Tinesha Turman all of Columbus, GA; four sisters, Ms. Fannie King and Ms. Bobbie King (Evans Williams) both of Thomaston, GA, Mrs. Shirley (Ronnie) Martin of LaGrange, GA and Mrs. Charlene Scott of Atlanta, GA; three brothers; Mr. Stanley King of East Point, GA, Mr. Earl McCants and Mr. Stanley Pritchett both of Thomaston, GA; several nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins and other relatives and friends whom all will miss his love and presence dearly.
