Obituary: Allen Burnell Neal was born in Somerville, TN on August 12, 1951. He graduated from high school and attended the University of UT Martin and Memphis State in pursuit of a business degree. Allen, always called “Burnell” by family, was introduced to Christ at a young age and although not in regular attendance or member to any church, he always acknowledged God as the head of his life and strived to live righteously. He married Gloria in April of 1976 which included their oldest kids from previous unions, Reginald and Tunya. Their two youngest kids, twins, Chey and Sean, were born to this union in April of 1977. Allen worked in sales for numerous years and retired as an insurance agent in the early 2000s. He then enjoyed doting on his lovely wife of 48 years and spending time with his family. Allen was also the best grandfather and cherished every moment with his grandkids. He will be most remembered for his boisterous personality, fun - loving spirit, and for being the one person you could always rely on when you needed him the most. He was preceded in death by his father, James, and mother, Hattie, his siblings: James, Larry, Willie, Edward, Mary Lane, and Thomas. He is survived by his wife, Gloria, his 4 children Reginald (Judi), Tunya (Kevin), Chey (Raheem), Sean (Angela), his 10 grandchildren Gabrielle, Joshua, Caleb, Ayana, Shykeira, Aniya, Anthony, Hasnina, Ezra, and Sean-Allen, and 2 great-grandchildren Triton and Oshin. He also leaves behind 3 siblings, Bob, Rozena, and Ruth, 4 sisters-in law Carrie, Ernestine, Sherri, and Carolyn, 1 brother-in law Eugene, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Uncle Burnell. Funny, fun, and cool. Full of love for his family. He was wise, he was kind and giving. Uncle Burnell and Gloria helped me and mine when we were going through it financially. God bless Uncle Burnell!!! and may he rest in peace. May God welcome him into heaven and may Unc receive eternal life. Love Richard Neal.
One last from Rozena Houston, sister: Rest in peace with the angels in Heaven baby brother and we will see you later. Praise the Lord for the gift of Burnell all these years.
One of my fondest memories of Uncle Burnell is his cheery smile, his calls every birthday, and his love of family. We are "THE REAL NEALS" was his fun talk with his brother Edward and he always was kind and open hearted to everyone. He loooooooved his wife and family! When I was in the hospital years ago, he called to encourage me and his last statement was "we are praying for you baby". Allen may have moved on to his final rest in Heaven but his memory will live on. R.I.P. Uncle Allen. See you later. Sheila Houston
From Rozena Houston, sister of Allen Neal: MY fondest memories of my brother are that he never forgot a birthday nor holiday. He always called and kept in touch. He was always there to lend a helping hand when needed. I will miss him.
Burnell never ended a conversation without expressing how much he and Gloria loved me and the family. He needed us to know that and we definitely did and felt their love. Gonna miss you brother. Sherri & family.
I'll miss and love you forever Uncle
I will always remember my Uncle Burnell! I will always remember when I was a child and he took several of us children to the circus back in Memphis. It was such a good time! I have never forgotten it. He and Gloria would bring their twins over to play with and visit my little brother and siter who where also twins when they were toddlers. He called me when I almost died and was in the hospital a few years ago. I wish someone here would have been kind enough to let me know how sick he was so that I could have called or visited him before he passed.
My handsome uncle I shall never forget. We call him Uncle BUN. He was number one in Memphis TN in Insurance sales. He as hard worker in his younger days. He was always clean in his business suits. My uncle Bun always had it going on. My uncle Burnell kept a smile on his face. He brought joy and laughter everywhere he went. I would call him a family man. Uncle you move from Memphis to Atlanta but you will always be remembered. Love Sharon Denise Neal Jennings. Much love!

Uncle Burnell was legendary. We will never forget all the cool jingles/songs he made or that knock at the door where he said, "Burnell, Burnell, Burnell!" We still do that knock at each other's doors. No need to even check the peephole because that knock lets you know it's family. Blessings to and prayers for Aunt Gloria and my cousins. We love you guys and will see you soon. ❤️Kim & Fam
To the entire family of Allen "Burnell" Neal, much comfort, love everlasting to his wife, all his loving children & grandchildren, sisters and brothers and nieces & nephews. As a close family friend because of Burnell's younger sister, as young teens, we would gather at the Neal's home and have a ball laughing, dancing and I remember Burnell having such patience shown in his face and smile. We made a lot joyful noise in their home. There wasn't a time when others weren't welcomed. That house was full of love. I feel honored to have known Burnell and knowing this family. Bless you all as your go through your time of grieving. Much love, Frances H. Robinson
