Bernadette Theresa Jackson, affectionately known as Bernie, a.k.a. BernieB, was born in Brooklyn, NY, on April 20, 1935. As a loving Mother, Grandmother, and great-grandmother, Bernie touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. Known for her love of dance and good music, she was also very feisty! You better think twice if you planned on messing with her, or her family, or her home!
Bernie grew up in a large, close-knit family with 6 brothers and 4 sisters. She carried her strong family values throughout her life. After graduating from Clara Barton HS, she was a Domestic Worker for a prominent family in Manhattan, NYC, for over 25 years. Bernie retired in 2005.
Bernie wed Willie Jackson, and their union produced 5 children: Debra, Gail, Antoinette, William, and Scott. Bernie was a dedicated Mother. She took pride in her home, and she took excellent care of it. Her home was known for being the place to be if you wanted to have good food, fun, dance, and lots of laughs.
Bernie leaves behind a legacy of strength, resilience, and plenty of love. She is survived by her 5 children, 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 18 Great great grands, and 2 Great great great grands, 4 sisters, a host of nieces, nephews, and plenty of friends. Her life was a true testament to the power of love, and her impact will live on in the lives she touched.
