In Loving Memory
Leonard Michael Green departed this life on September 27, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia. Born on May 19, 1993, to Nia Elder and Michael Jewell, and named Dawarn Michael Jewell. At the age of two, Leonard was lovingly blessed with additional parents, Leonard and Mary Green, who selected the name Leonard Michael Green, forever bonding him to both of the families who loved him. He was known as "Dawan" and "Leo" by his friends in Atlanta.
Dedicated to the Lord from an early age, Leonard grew up attending Amazing Grace Church, where he was taught and nurtured in the principles of God. Leonard began his education at Zion Lutheran School, graduated eighth grade from Bridge Academy, and earned his high school diploma from Central High School, all in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Driven by a variety of interests, he went on/to pursue a career in medical administration, as well as a degree in fashion design at the Art Institute of Atlanta. Leonard truly found his calling in the kitchen; his time spent working as a chef was his most joyful employment. He possessed a rare, natural culinary talent and always created or added his own special touch of flavor to every recipe he touched.
Beyond the kitchen, Leonard was a man of distinct passions, namely fashion and cooking. Though he briefly tried his hand at soccer, tennis, baseball, and football as a child, he quickly made it known that sports were not his calling. Instead, his heart belonged to style and design. His keen eye for fashion even earned him opportunities to outfit and dress well-known celebrities. Leonard also held a lifelong fascination with elaborate cars and limousines. A collector of model limos as a child, he dreamed and aspired to one day own and operate his very own limousine service.
Above all, Leonard brought light and laughter wherever he went. natural-born comedian with a unique sense of humor, he had a God-given gift for spreading joy, frequently leaving family and friends in stitches and crying tears of laughter. He dreamed of sharing this gift on a larger stage by performing in comedy shows. Leonard was a vibrant soul who spoke his mind with sharp wit, a true testament to a life lived out loud. "1f you knew him, you knew he believed in having the best of everything...beautiful cars, fine things, and giving his very best to everyone he loved. Yet somehow, for all the best he gave and all the best he hoped for, life seemed to deal him the worst of things.""
Leonard was a "Jewel" in more ways than one, a precious gift from God, wonderfully created with purpose, intention, and divine design. His life was not an accident; God entrusted him to us for a season, and through his life, he touched hearts, brought joy, and left an imprint that can never be erased. He loved his brother, Keyan, whom he was raised with; they were more than brothers; they were best friends, inseparable, and always by each other's side. The love they shared was a bond that could never be broken.
He leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Leonard and Mary Green; Nia Elder and Michael Jewell. His siblings: Keyan Green, LaTosha Thomas of Indiana, Shania Jenkins, Fantashia Jenkins, Shriek Jenkins, and Tashalyn Covington; his nieces, Nia Thomas, Kay'Alaa Green, and nephew Christian Thomas; and a host of relatives and friends.
We are forever grateful and deeply blessed to have had Leonard as a part of our lives. His love, his tenacity, his strength, his compassion, and his selflessness were treasures that made him uniquely precious to all who knew him. Though our hearts ache because we can no longer see him, hear him, or hold him, we are comforted knowing that the love he gave remains with us. He will be deeply missed by his families, friends, and all who were blessed to taste his food, share his laughter, and experience his bright spirit.
