Dionne Michelle Brown departed this life on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg, SC. She was born April 7,1966 to the late Patricia Rose Brown and Clarence Briggs.
She attended Rutherford County schools and at an early age was baptized and became a member of Gold Hill Baptist Church. She was employed periodically by the Rutherford County Workshop Program.
Michelle, as she was affectionately called, was a kind soul who never met a stranger. She was fun loving and had a sense of humor along with a very persistent nature. She believed wholeheartedly in the timeless adage of “ask not, have not” so every chance she had, she asked for whatever she needed or wanted until she got it! Some of her favorite things to do were to go shopping and out to eat with her grandmother and aunt Juanita, both of whom dedicated themselves as her faithful guardians. This time of the year was especially exciting for her because she really loved giving and getting Christmas presents. Michelle was also known by her family as “Big Michelle” to distinguish her spot as the first of several Michelle’s in the family. She, like her late mother Patricia, was the life of the party at family gatherings. “Big Michelle” added a lot of spice to our family and taught us that no matter what challenges you may have, there was always a reason to love and laugh.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Candy Tawanda Faye. She is survived by her grandmother who raised her, Delcie C. Fuller Brown, one daughter, Jessica Brown, three granddaughters, Jalayja Helms, Makaiah Helms and Tatayana Helms of Monroe, three brothers, Galen Briggs, Terrance Briggs, Casey Briggs (Tammy) of Forest City, NC,, two sisters, Bernadine Briggs, Theresa Bridges, NC, of Forest City, NC, five aunts, Elder Gloria Brown (Robert) of Washington, DC, Sheila Soumahoro (Sekou) of Holliswood, NY, Barbara Shaheed of Washington, DC, Juanita Brown of Forest City, NC and Vanessa Robinson of Johnson City, Tennessee, six uncles, William Brown (Glennie), Michael Brown (Pamela), David Brown (Tammy) of Rutherfordton, NC, Ronald Brown (Gwendolyn) of Mint Hill, NC, Thomas Brown of Rutherfordton, NC and Paul Brown, of Charlotte, NC, and a host of cousins, extended family and friends.
