Our beloved Julia Mae Edgerton, (known as June), was born June 2,1936, in Grassy Knob, North Carolina to Blanche Lynch and Mae Bell Edgerton. Julia married DeVault Edgerton February 20th, 1954. All of her life, she was a homemaker giving birth to ten children and rearing two of her grandchildren, Andre and Adrian, while helping manage the family business. Julia was a nurturer who was dedicated to and loved her family; in her earlier years Julia worked doing whatever was necessary, including chopping wood for the stove to keep the house warm and cooking food for her family. Also, she enjoyed canning food to preserve for them. In addition, she enjoyed the outdoors and nature, especially gardening and planting flowers. She joined the Mount Nebo Baptist Church family under the leadership of Pastor Joseph Smith. In her mid-twenties, Julia accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized thereafter. She was still attending church under the leadership of Pastor Arthur J. Smith until she was no longer able to do so. Julia loved the Lord, and, for approximately sixty years, she was a faithful servant at her church. Julia’s marriage lasted for 67 years at which time her husband, DeVault Edgerton, was called home. If Julia’s life were to be summed up into two sentences, it would be: she loved the Lord with all of her heart and was dedicated completely to her husband and children. Finally, “Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.” (Proverbs, 31:25) God called her home to be with him on January 22nd, 2022. Her husband, DeVault Edgerton, first son, DeVon Edgerton, sister, Lillian Edgerton and brothers, Edgar Lee Allen, Calvin Nathaniel Allen, and Winfred William Lynch preceded her in death. Julia left to cherish her memory children: Annie Mae Edgerton Davis of Four Oaks, North Carolina (Clearthur); Gertrude Edgerton of Lake Lure, North Carolina; Dorothy Lee Edgerton Lynch of Union Mills, North Carolina, (James); Shirley Ann Edgerton of Morganton, North Carolina; Hazel Edgerton of Raleigh, North Carolina; Jimmy William Edgerton of Forest City, North Carolina, (Tammy); Johnny Edgerton of Johnson City, Tennessee, (Denise); Judy Edgerton Freeman of Forest City, North Carolina, (Reggie); Keith Edgerton of Victoria, Texas, (Lisa); 26 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren, Sisters, Maimie Sue Hines of Forest City, North Carolina, Kathleen McKinney of Forest City, North Carolina; Mary Allen of Rutherfordton, North Carolina; Luvenia Lee of Rutherfordton, North Carolina; brothers, Theodore Edgerton of Hendersonville, North Carolina; Wallace Levirgil Lynch of Black Mountain, North Carolina; Lorenzo Worth Lynch of Black Mountain, North Carolina; 2 brothers-in-law and a host of other relatives and friends.
