A Glimpse into the Life of Pauline S. Camp
Mrs. Pauline Sypho Camp was born in Gaffney, SC on September 27, 1932, to the late Doc and Elizabeth Sypho. Pauline gained her eternal wings on May 22, 2024, surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home.
Mrs. Pauline was preceded in death by her three sisters, Moes Peeler, Piccola “Meedy” Palmer, and Geneva Doggette; her husband, Mr. Charles Camp; two sons, Joe William Sypho, and Ricky Camp. Three daughters, Francene Camp, Elder Gloria Camp Robinson, and Mrs. Sandra Camp Washington, and two grandsons, Kevin McKinney, Teamcho Allen.
At an early age, Mrs. Camp had a passion for hair. It was amazing what she could do with that hot comb and grease. Not only was she a hairdresser, her and her husband founded the first black-owned wig store in the county. She also worked at Burlington Mills until her retirement.
As passionate as she was about hair, she had a greater passion for serving her God and singing. At an early age, she gave her life to Christ and joined New Zion Baptist Church. She was a staple in the church choir until her health prevented her from singing. Her vocal devotion was passed down to her children grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, which inspired her to start the Camp Family. A choir that now spans across generations. She was honored as one of the trailblazers of Rutherford County.
Mrs. Pauline was a true matriarch in every sense of the word. Her family spans across 5 generations. She leaves to cherish her special memories: her daughters, Cy`nthia Love of Henrietta, NC, Jennifer Greene (Donald) of Forest City, NC, Charlene Surratt of Shelby, NC, Brenda Davis (Elmer) of Forest City, NC, Vickey Logan (Randy) of Wilson, NC, Annie Rogers (Dane) of Shelby, NC, Victoria Reid (Kirkland) of Henrietta, NC, Leslie Twitty (DeLewis) of Polk County, NC; two sons, Arthur Camp of Henrietta, NC, and Anthony Camp (Venus) of Fayetteville, NC; 36 grandchildren, Jermaine “T-Bone” McKinney, Shawn Love, Alicia “Lisa” Martin, Sonia Carpenter, Deborah Allen, Jerry Allen, Tony Mckinney, Paul Mckinney, Chad Mckinney, LaKeisha Mckinney, Jayvontay Mckinney, Paula Lynch, Christina Hardy, Elmer “Mannie” Davis Jr, Shana Camp, Robin McDowell, Markie Reid, Brittney Camp, Tyrone Camp, Mary Jackson, Micheal Logan, Tisha Robinson, Arkyne Curton, Whitney Robinson, Latoya Largen, Dominque Dato, KJ Little-John, Morya Camp, Steadman Davis, Princeton Davis, Porscha Forney, Dane Rogers Jr, Frederick Camp, Carlos Lisenby, Jaylon Twitty, and DeAndre Twitty; 86 great-grandchildren, 36 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
