Life & Legacy,
U’Nece’s laugh could light up a room. It wasn’t just loud it was infectious; a joyful burst that made everyone laugh. She made things brighter for those who knew her.
Born on October 10, 1985, U’Nece was a force from the start. She gave her all, whether in tap, ballet, jazz, gymnastics, playing piano or singing in the church choir. She excelled in softball, basketball and chorus, always bringing her energy and passion to everything she did.
She took great pride in her work at Sunny Creek Farms, where she dedicated 15 years as a Logistics and Procurement Manager. Her presence, leadership and spirit left a lasting mark.
But her greatest love? Music! U’Nece’s voice wasn’t just something you heard it was something you felt. She sang in countless choirs and influential groups and provided background vocals on numerous albums. If there was a mic, she was always ready to sing. Music was her heart and soul. And she was your go-to if you needed a song recommendation or a new playlist.
Her heart was as big as her laugh. Her loyalty to family and friends was unwavering. When U’Nece loved, she loved deeply and fiercely. She fought her battles with courage, strength and remarkable resilience. She wasn’t just a survivor; she thrived, showing us how to keep laughing and loving no matter what life threw her way.
On Sunday, March 9, 2025, U’Nece said her final goodbye in Paris, surrounded by the people she loved. And she did it like the queen she was – with grace. She may have left this world, but her laughter, love and vibrant spirit will echo in our hearts forever. Rest in peace, U’Nece we’ll keep on laughing for you.
Those left to cherish her precious memories are her parents Calvin and Yvette Phillips; sister Ashlee Parris (husband: Anthony); brother Calvin ‘Tripp’ Phillips; Grandfather Calvin ‘Cab’ Phillips, Sr.; godson Braylan Tucker; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. We find comfort in knowing she will join a host of loved ones who have passed before her, including her cherished husband Johnny DeShannon Briscoe; grandparents Linda Phillips, Eunice Ledbetter, Robert ‘Von’ and Mattie Ledbetter; and godchild Xyion Tucker.
