Brenda Joyce Foster
Brenda Joyce Foster, age 65, transitioned to her heavenly home on March 31, 2026.
Brenda was born on November 19, 1960, to Shirley Ruth Foster in Alcoa, Tennessee. From the very beginning, she brought energy, laughter, and strength into the lives of those around her.
Brenda was truly the life of the party. She was known for speaking her mind and standing strong in who she was. If you knew Brenda, you knew she didn’t play when it came to her family—she protected them fiercely and loved them deeply. That love was unwavering and undeniable.
To many, Brenda was affectionately known as “Batmike,” a nickname that perfectly matched her bold and unforgettable personality. She had her own way of bringing joy into any room, often shouting her signature phrases, “bahbatouhhwha!” and “who you wit!”—words that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Brenda never met a stranger. Her warmth, humor, and welcoming spirit made everyone feel like family. She had a gift for making people laugh, even in difficult times.
As a young adult, Brenda attended Charles M. Hall High School in Alcoa and Austin High School in Knoxville. She had a deep love for East Knoxville, especially the Walter P. Taylor Homes, where she built lasting memories and lifelong connections.
Brenda was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Ruth Foster, and her sister, Linda Diane Foster.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughter, Necousha J. Foster Taylor (Cedric Taylor); her cherished grandchildren, Shawnyce Byrd and Dishawn Byrd; her sisters, Sherwood Westmoreland, Chris Houston, and her loving baby sister, Kimberly Foster; and her brothers, Terry Love and Tony Foster.
Some of her nieces and nephews include Mark Greenlee (A’Niyah, Amaree, and Ashton), Markicia Greenlee (Auniesty and Auh’Ner), Michael Houston (Nala), and Maya Houston, along with many more who loved her deeply and will carry her memory forward.
She also leaves her aunts, Dorothy Pate and Helen Winton; her uncle, David Lewis Foster; and Joyce Foster.
Brenda was known, loved, and respected by many. Her presence was powerful, her laughter contagious, and her love unforgettable.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 11:30-12:00 noon with the Celebration of Life to begin at Noon at the Unity Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Renee Kesler officiating.
The final resting place will be at the Mt. Olive Cemetery immediately following the service. A dove release will conclude in her honor.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Unity Mortuary. www.unitymortuary1979.com

Aunt Brenda you will be greatly missed. I'm going to miss your smile that laugh, and that great sense of humor you had. You was down right hilarious, and could make light of a bad situation instantly. I have so many great memories with you, too many to list. I remember so many great parties/family gatherings that we had back in the day in Austin Homes, Aunt Chris, Kim's place, and even Aunt Linda's place. Sometimes I wish we could go back to those days. Not knowing then we were making some great memories. Anytime "Cameo" songs come on I instantly go back to you and Aunt Linda. Unfortunately I didn't get to have a two-way conversation with you when you was in the hospital. It was just a few days after your initial surgery. I'm glad that I got to spend that time with you. My mind goes back to a memory of when you threw the baseball with me. Believe it or not just that little bit of time you spent with me had an impact, and I never will forget it. You will be missed.
