Eliza Harris
Eliza Harris was born on September 1, 1927, to the late Stanley and Vada Sudderth in Etowah, Tennessee.
Eliza, a woman of strong faith and conviction was known for sharing her faith and a seat at her table where she prepared delicious meals with love. She was employed by the Knox County Sherriff’s Department for 20-plus years where she was a court matron until she retired and loved working as the unofficial greeter at NHC until she was no longer able.
Eliza passed away on November 18, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husbands: Jack Dula, George Smith Sr., and Vige Harris; sisters: Ruth Harvey, Katherine Harrison, Elizabeth Carter, and Geneva Summey; sons: David Dula and Rev. George Smith Jr.; and daughter, Marion Smith Parkey.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Vada S. Sensabaugh, FL, Frederick "Chomesh" Smith Sr., Saundra Smith, Frank Smith, and Cynthia S. Smith [of Knoxville]; her cherished eleven grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 from 10-11:00 am with the Celebration of Life Service to begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Unity Mortuary Chapel where Dr. Latisha R. Henry will officiate.
Mrs. Harris will be laid to rest at the Sherwood Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. A dove release will conclude in her honor.
