Evelyn J. Coats
Age 83 slept away on December 24, 2023, at her home. She was a graduate of Austin High School Class of 1958. She began her career in food services at Beardsley Middle School and continued her passion as a caterer for over 40 years where she served her community. She attended Overcoming Believers Church where she was an active member of the H.E.L.P.S. group.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Anna Thompson Sr, sister, Rita Hampton, children, Pamela Bonner, Tawana Moore, and Gregory Jack. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Danny Coats and her devoted and loving children, William Clemons, Carmen Clemons, Todd Jack, Deanna Keeter, JoAnn Glenn, and Shirley Layne; her loving and devoted sister and best friend Loyace Ann Upton and brother Horace (Luzinka) Thompson Jr.; her devoted and loving grandchildren Meticia (Jed) Jackson, Ava and Camille, Philip Moore I I; her devoted godson and daughter-in-law, Norman Willis and Tameka Clemons; in-laws, Mattie Sharp, Shirley Anderson, Larry Coats, and Gaylord Gibson.
On Tuesday, January 2, 2024, the Life Celebration will be held at Overcoming Believers Church located at 211 Harriet Tubman St. from 11 am to 12 pm with the Service to follow where Pastor Daryl Arnold will be officiating.
The final resting place will be immediately fol-low at the Berry Highland South Memorial Park. A dove release will conclude in her honor.

Everyone that came in contact with Mrs. Evelyn loved her from the start. She made you feel like you were the most wonderful person ever. I will miss her sweet face and really miss her delish foods. I am praying for the entire family to seek peace, comfort and strength during this time.
