Obituary For Flora Marie Isom

STRAWBERRY PLAINS - Flora Marie Isom, 80, of Strawberry Plains, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023, at her home.

Marie was a graduate of Austin High School. She was born in Knoxville, TN to the late Doyle and Margaret Dotson. She was a member of Mt Calvary Baptist Church and later attended Honey Rock Victorious Church International. She worked with Knoxville City Schools up to the late 80’s until she retired to care for her parents. Afterwards, she went into the medical field full time where she earned her license and opened a small assistance living private home servicing clients. She had a servant’s heart and loved taking care of the family. She was later employed by Premier Building Maintenance Corporation where she worked as Contract Manager until retiring to take care of her late husband. Marie loved going fishing with her brother, enjoyed reading her books, cooking, baking, gardening, and attending to her rose garden.

Marie was preceded in death by both parents, husband (Stanely Isom, Sr.), two brothers (Richard and Theotis Dotson), one sister (Daisy Mynatt) and her son (Glynn DeWayne Isom). She is survived by her two daughters (Carmen and MeLissa Williams), three sons (Roosevelt, Deiris Williams and Stanley Isom, Jr,) 12 grandchildren (Jermarcus, Markita, Farris Chandler, Stephonie Thompson, Chanda, Antonio, Shateka, Shameka, Miracle Williams, Darnell Houston, and Vanessa Flack, 25 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and her special nephew Mark Isom, and many others. We would like to give special thanks to Gentiva Hospice staff; Brittany, Pam, and Cathy for going above and beyond to take care of our mom.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 7, 2023 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. with the Celebration of Life Service to begin at 4:00 p.m. at the Unity Mortuary Chapel (1425 McCalla Ave. Knoxville, TN 37915). The Ministerial Staff Of Honey Rock Victorius Church will be there where Apostle Jerry Upton is Pastor, Pastor Ron Butler is officiating and Pastor Adrian Todd Kincaid will be rendering the words of comfort to the family. The final resting place will be at the Eastview Memorial Gardens (1320 Andrew Johnson Hwy; Strawberry Plains, TN) on Monday, September 8, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. A dove release will conclude in her honor.
