Obituary For Joe W. Doggett

J.W. Doggett of Knoxville, Tennessee, departed life peacefully on September 23, 2026 at 90 years of age. He was the son of late Alonzo and Ada Doggett, J.W. and was born in Forest city, North Carolina.

A faithful member of Bentley Street Christian Church. He was a current member of C.C. Russell Lodge No. 262. J.W. worked as a truck driver for Sears Roebuck for 22 years. After retiring from Sears, he later worked at United Van Lines for a decade. He would later work at CAC as a companion, a job he very much enjoyed in his later years of life. J.W. loved his family and enjoyed traveling, music, and doing any indoor or outdoor tasks he could occupy his time with.

J.W. will be fondly remembered for his famous sayings that included “It’s all good,” “You already know!” “Good show, “She’s a Halle Berry.” and “Stay on the right-hand side of the road!” which always brought a laugh and smile to every audience graced by his presence.

A proud father of his four children and multiple grandchildren, J.W. held a special place in his heart for his three great-grandchildren, whom he loved to shower with gifts and family trinkets.

J.W. was preceded in death by his parents Alonzo and Ada; Doggett his wife, Grace A. Doggett; Grandson, Jonah Belliny Caldwell; two sisters; and seven brothers.

He leaves to cherish his memory, son, Michael Doggett; daughters, Kimberly Doggett (Shannon) Myers, Shannon Doggett, and Melissa “Missy” Doggett; grandchildren, Demar Hester, Dashauna Myers, Brian “Snoopy,” (Destiny) Doggett, Shami Oquendo, Jaylen Myers, Sylence Murphy, Tyrese Jones and Bradon Hayes; great-grandchildren, Easton Doggett, Ashton Doggett, and Jaylen Myers Jr.; his sister, Shirley R. Thompson of South Carolina, and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Bentley Street Christian Church on October 11, 2026. Receiving of family and friends will be held 2:00pm-3:00pm. The service will begin at 3:15pm.

The final resting place will be held at Berry Highland South, located on 910 E. Sampson Rd, Knoxville, Tennessee, on Monday, October 12, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. A dove release will conclude in his honor.

To honor J.W.’s signature sharp attire, please join us in wearing a fancy church hat while in attendance of his Celebration of Life.
