Johnnie Mae Langston departed this life peacefully on Thursday January 14, 2021 at U.T. Medical Center. She was born to her parents on October 22, 1957 in Knoxville, Tennessee.

She attended Laurel Church of Christ. She worked for many years at Children's Hospital and Knox County Schools. Johnnie Mae loved cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Johnny Herndon, mother Sarah Langston; grandparents, Colus and Annie Mae Roper; uncle Aaron Goggins and Eula Lee Geter; brother Charles Langston, Jr. (Tina).

She leaves to cherish her memory: sons Samuel (Bianca) Gilmore III, and Jamar Eugene Gilmore; grandchildren, Paul Riley, Andria Florence, Rebecca Wilder, Samuel IV, Charles (Big Baby) Kedaris, DaKevian, Sedricia, Samyne, Jatyea, Je'Miyah abnd Jamar Ronday Gilmore, Trey'von Dyon and Nisha Chambers. Brothers, Johnny Herndon, Jr. Booker T. and Charles Langston III; Sisters, Lateishia Hall (Donnie), Wanda Golden, Brenda and Deborah Langston. Devoted nieces: Demetria Nance, Raeunna (Randolph) Brown and Keira Langston; great-niece, Yishenique Glover and a host of nieces, nephews, counsins and friends. A special thanks to U.T. Medical Center.

The family will receive friends Saturday, January 23, 2021 from 11:30-12:00 noon with the Celebration of Life Service to follow at Noon at the Unity Mortuary Chapel with Elder Thomas E. Glenn officiating. The final resting place will be held at Mt. Olive Cemetery immediately following the service. Mrs. Langston will lie-in-repose on Friday, January 22, 2021 from 12p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Unity Mortuary Chapel. Due to Covid restrictions, the family respectively asks that mask be worn and social distancing be practiced. Unity Mortuary is honored to serve the Langston and Gilmore families.
