Phillip Jacobs
Phillip Eugene Jacobs was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 1, 1934, to Mavel Jacobs. He attended Austin High School where he played football for the Panthers. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1975. In that same year, he married his wife, Pauline Jacobs. Phillip was a huge sports fan and loved some UT Vols. He worked for KUB and later worked for East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, where he retired.
God called him home on October 13, 2025. He is predeceased by his wife, Pauline Jacobs; siblings: James A. Wells and Nellie Jacobs; his daughter, Brenda Arnold; and grandson, Timothy O’Neal. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters: Kristie O’Neal and Sandra Jackson; son: Paul O’Neal; grandson: Christopher O’Neal (whom he raised), Reginald Arnold, Paul O’Neal Jr., Demarcus O’Neal, Tanisha and Deadrick Soles, Shatarra O’Neal, Jasmin O’Neal, Jeremy O’Neal, Sharon and James Bomar; and a vast amount of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 21, 2025 from 11-11:30 a.m. with the Celebration of Life service to begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Unity Mortuary chapel.
The final resting place will be held at the Tennessee Veterans Cemetery (Lyons View) at 1:00 p.m.

I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the family. Mr. Jacobs was a pleasure to know. He was a wealth of knowledge and his no nonsense attitude was encouraging. I really enjoyed the time I spent talking with him. My Prayers are with you all as you go through this difficult time.
