Terence A. McClunie, Sr.
Terence A. McClunie, Sr., was born on March 5, 1963, in Kansas City, Missouri. He accepted Christ at an early age at Metropolitan AME Zion Church, KCMO. He sang in the Little Voices and the Young Adult Choir. Terence had a passion for singing. He loved to sing the Gospel.
Terence graduated from Central High School, KCMO in 1981. He married his high school sweetheart Sequendalyn “Quinn” Johnson in 1983. Terence joined the US Air Force in 1984 and served until 1994 working as an aerospace control and warning system journeyman and a recruiter. He earned medals in space command, tactical demand, and Desert Storm. Upon leaving the Air Force, he worked for the United States Postal Service and Kroger’s.
Terence retired in 2019 and became a full-time grandpa, which he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Terence was a great cook, which he enjoyed cooking for his wife and family. He loves to be out gardening and planting flowers. Terence was a devoted husband, father, and grandpa. He always filled people's lives with warmth and kindness. He had a deep love for family and had a great sense of humor.
Terence departed this life on April 14, 2026, in Alcoa, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tillman & Emma Jean McClunie; mother-in-love, Ivie K. Johnson; and grandparents: George & Loyce McClunie and Harold & Lenore Epperson. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Sequendalyn “Quinn” McClunie; sons: Terence A. (Lena) McClunie II, Mario D. McClunie, and Tyrin D. McClunie; daughter, Destiny K. Bailey; three grandchildren: Lyric, Lyzah, and Chi R. McClunie; brothers: Tillman (Vonetta) McClunie II, Timothy McClunie, and Tonino McClunie; father-in-law, Nathaniel Johnson; three sisters-in-love; five brothers-in-law; a host of loving aunts, uncles, sweet nieces, special nephews, cousins, and friends; special friends: Elder Joe & Dr. Julia Walker and Charlie & Cathy Frye. Special thanks to Harrel & Diana Johnson, and the staff of Tennova North ICU.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 23, 2026 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Unity Mortuary Chapel.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service to begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2026 at the Unity Mortuary chapel.
The final resting place will be held at the East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery (John Sevier) immediately after the service on Friday at 10:00 a.m. where full military honors and a dove release will conclude in his honor.
