I remember being a young girl and hearing the Silvertones practice at the Christian Band of Benevolence Hall across the street from my house. I use to ease in just to get a close up. Mr. Alonzo Keys had that perfectly high-pitched voice that was as smooth as silk. When I moved back to Panama City in 2017 and joined St. John, he came up to me one Sunday and whispered a word of encouragement to me that blew me away. I will never forget those words. Rest easy Mr. Alonzo Keys. My prayers and condolences to the family.πππ
When my grandmother passed away (Nettie Murphy) Mr Keys came by with a cooler of fish. He told my uncles what ever we needed to let him know. Mr Keys got on me one time because I call myself "skipping" school. He took me right back and checked me in and told Mr Bowers I was skipping lmbo. He truly was a great man Bay Ave will not be the same when I come homeπͺπ₯² Rest Well Mr. Keys

My what a beautiful soul.PRior to accepting Jesus as my Savior I was a struggling teenager. A childhood filled with the challenges of growing in family with eight children trying to survive on a salesman salary. Us older kids all went to work at the restaurant at a very early age. Many memories from those early but the one that stood out in my mind was the night I decided to run away from home. My plan was to catch the Bay Line railroad out of town. The plan was aborted as soon as I heard the scurry of a critter in the corner of the box car I had jumped into. As I aborted this plan I found myself a taxi to Alonzo's house. When he and AlonzoJr returned home that night I was on there. I will never forget his sweet spirit n Godly comforting words at this pivitol moment in my life. I love you so π RIP Hugs Alonzo n Anthony until I see y'all! Blessings Tammy

Oh I feel an empty place in my inside,I'm glad I did get to see him a good while ago. He was one fellow I always really was glad to see. I used to deliver goods from Institutional Dist. Geneva and filled in as salesman for Frank Messer. I will always remember him with that great smile.
To Alonzo and Anthony and family,
Your father was an inspiration to many in this community. I feel privileged to have known him. No matter how busy he was he always had a smile for me and my family when we saw him in town or at the restaurant; and we all know how hard he worked. He always had a smile for Kiwanians and others that dropped by to see him when he dedicated so many mornings to our Kiwanis Pancake Days for many years. I will miss being able to tell patrons of pancake days that they "better get some more pancakes because not many people get to eat pancakes cooked by Chef Alonzo Keys!" He surprised me once when he sang at a nephew's funeral...for a moment I thought I was listening to Aaron Neville. Alonzo has moved on to a better place, and we will miss him.
